Dear Mr. Robinson,
I have been a loyal member of the Free Republic since before the 2000 election. I have been a Conservative since the early days of Clinton. When I found this site, I thought "Thank God, people who think like me." I have continued to think this until the more recent days. Now, it seems that there are threads left and right bashing our President.
Why? There are things the President has done which I don't agree with but my loyality still lies with him. I am not sure if these "Bush-Bashers" fail to see the reality that with politics comes comprimise or it is something worse. I feel there is a cancer in the Free Republic. Some are eating their own.
I feel that some of these people are members of the dreaded democratic underground disguised as disgruntled conservatives. They are only here to stir up trouble. What's worse, they are doing just that. I am not sure what I think you should do.
As a conservative, I believe in our moral code but I also realize the reality of politics. I back our President but if he were doing something unsavory (like lying under oath,) I could not support him. This is unlike the left's clintonista dogma. What President Bush is doing is not betraying the conservative cause. He is using politics to confound the left. Those who do not understand this are either leftists themself or unable to separate themselves from their zealousness.
This is your show. You choose who gets to be a member and who does not. Those who break your rules are banished from the kingdom. I am not discouraging free speech, but this is free speech in your forum. These Bush-Bashers are brining us down. When this infighting happened in 1992, Bill Clinton got elected. let's not let that happen again.
Yours,
Big Guy and Rusty 99
There may come a time when that will happen.
I can just hear your alibi -- "But it must of been the poppy seeds from the bagel!"
That is an interesting figure. What is the source?
What an inspired thought, Fred! I like it!
Let us remain ever-loyal to a politician -- not to our ideals, and not to our principles.
Love, Big Guy and Rusty 99
Excellent.
Perhaps there are a few of these folks on the Forum, but they usually betray themselves by trashing Dubyuh with personal, ad hominem attacks, and are removed. A much greater portion of the folks criticizing Bush are those who feel he is straying from the conservative principle of limited government as he continues to sign on to Leftist DemonRAT legislation.
"What President Bush is doing is not betraying the conservative cause. He is using politics to confound the left. Those who do not understand this are either leftists themself or unable to separate themselves from their zealousness."
This is where honest GOPers can disagree. Sure, I'm zealous in believing that a Federal Guv'ment that siphons off over 25% of our Gross Domestic Product is obscenely oversized, and it angers me when Dubyuh seems all-too-willing to increase that percentage further. I don't consider myself a BushBasher in the slightest, however, if "confounding the Left" includes the enactment of their Socialist Agenda item by item by item, I feel compelled to speak up.
Also, for those of you GOPers who insist on supporting Bush through hell or high water, just consider the damage that "90% of Republicans support Bush" statement does to the Cause of Conservatism and Limited Guv'ment. Just like the African-American vote for the DemonRATS, if you support a candidate--or Party--without reservations, your leverage is null. No wonder the Milquetoast Moderates who advise Dubyuh are winning the POTUS's ear, the Conservative Republicans are not belly-achin' enough, IMO!!
Poll numbers are nice, but ethereal, as Dubyuh's Daddy knows, so I honestly believe those of us who are holding Bush's feet to the fire on his spending increases are doing him a great service. When our Party loses our reputation for Fiscal Conservatism, we risk alienating quite a large portion of our base going into the November '02 and '04 elections.
Eliminating our voices and pretending this ain't a potential problem is no way to run a supposedly Conservative Forum.

Then by not voting Republican, you give the edge to the Democratic candidate by 1 vote. I am not comfortable doing that, you might be.
Well, we do have insight, but brilliant or not, at least we know the English language. I recommend a good spell checker and grammar checker for you.
This is because in order to maintain the mission of this discussion site, which is an as stated support of Constitutional Conservatism, the first right to be upheld is the right of free speech; an individual's right to say what he or she really feels on topics of National relevance and personal concern.
Certainly there must be guidelines, but "Thought Policing" must not be among them.
Ever.
I would also appreciate it if Bush stopped taking his marching orders from the UN and Fox of Mexico.
This is great and I commend you for it. But I still remind those tho claim they will never vote for Bush, that by not voting for the Republican, you give the advantage to the Democrat.
They're that little clique of "Axis of Whining Weasels" formerly known as the .05% 3rd Party, Twilight Zoner's...
The very same self loathing, sniveling, complaining, bashbots who fear everything.
Just remember it isn't personal, just think of them as the hilarious fools they really are !!
GWB has integrity, is accountable and is a great leader !!
GWB is the man !!
Freedom Is Worth Fighting For !!
Molon Labe !!
I believe that 90% approval rating applies to Republicans, not conservatives. This thread is proof-positive there is a major difference in the two terms, IMHO.
