Dear Mr. Robinson,
I have been a loyal member of the Free Republic since before the 2000 election. I have been a Conservative since the early days of Clinton. When I found this site, I thought "Thank God, people who think like me." I have continued to think this until the more recent days. Now, it seems that there are threads left and right bashing our President.
Why? There are things the President has done which I don't agree with but my loyality still lies with him. I am not sure if these "Bush-Bashers" fail to see the reality that with politics comes comprimise or it is something worse. I feel there is a cancer in the Free Republic. Some are eating their own.
I feel that some of these people are members of the dreaded democratic underground disguised as disgruntled conservatives. They are only here to stir up trouble. What's worse, they are doing just that. I am not sure what I think you should do.
As a conservative, I believe in our moral code but I also realize the reality of politics. I back our President but if he were doing something unsavory (like lying under oath,) I could not support him. This is unlike the left's clintonista dogma. What President Bush is doing is not betraying the conservative cause. He is using politics to confound the left. Those who do not understand this are either leftists themself or unable to separate themselves from their zealousness.
This is your show. You choose who gets to be a member and who does not. Those who break your rules are banished from the kingdom. I am not discouraging free speech, but this is free speech in your forum. These Bush-Bashers are brining us down. When this infighting happened in 1992, Bill Clinton got elected. let's not let that happen again.
Yours,
Big Guy and Rusty 99

Exactly! And it starts at the grassroots level -- we need to get local State Reps and Senators elected that support a conservative agenda and when they get experience then move on to Congress and the Senate. As they say -- all politics is local and we need to get really good conservative candidates that not only have a conservative agenda but are liked by the people they represent. Being mean and tearing people down is not going to get someone elected -- being friendly goes a lot further! How many people here are a member of their county party? That's where the action starts.

What kind of moron would remain loyal to a President that has betrayed us the way GW Bush has? For crying out loud, you are as sick as the Clinton lovers that used to baffle us all. How could they be so blind as to continue supporting him when he was so utterly and obviously a lying, cheating, corrupt piece of criminal trash? Well, now we know that at least the insanity is not restricted to liberals. Left leaning conservatives like yourself demonstrate that the disease is an equal opportunity destroyer. :-(

I get one of those about once a month. I am not so alienated yet that I stuff the return envelop with kitty litter. It just goes in the waste basket.

I couldn't agree more. We have to start at the local level. Only then will we start having real conservative reform. It has to work it's way into the system. Having one president or 51 senators who are conservative will not promote a true conservative agenda. They will try, but will end up compromising, as many here believe GWB is. And like many here, I'm disappointed with some of the things he has done, but considering the senate and congress, it's a hard fight. Now, imagine a solid conservative controled senate and house with a moderate president. That president wouldn't be able to pass a moderate/liberal agenda, the senate and house would never pass it. It's the opposite situation right now. We have a right to moderate president (depending on your personal viewpoint) with a liberal senate and house. How is he ever going to get any true conservative issues passed facing those odds? It just isn't going to happen, not the way we would really like. Like I stated before, we have a lot of work to do. Especially educating people.

How many people here are a member of their county party?I live in CT Dan, I don't send money to the party here because they don't believe in anything I do except for cutting their taxes. So I am guilty.

Bush bashers are already quite emasculated, and fully contained. I wonder why that is? Apparently the Newbie that started this thread isn't aware that project "Can the Bush-Bashers" has been operational for more than a year.

"Your profile page states that you are pro 1st Amendment. I don't understand how you can reconcile that fact with this post."
Nor I. He sounds just like a Dim....the only one who has a right to free speech is someone who agrees with them. That's hypocracy.

Ahhhh...don't like it when someone disagrees with you????
When GWB begins to ACT like a conservative....then I am sure that the voices condemning him will become silent.

I appreciate your offer. Thank you.
I am running for precinct delegate..(already won too - 2 people for 5 spots)
If I make the big jump, I'll let you know. If I run, it'll be as a county commish, school board, township board, or something similar to that, and it will be as a Republican.
I won't affect 2nd amendment issues much unless I win as state rep. Michigan has a preemption law on gun laws. The state has the power there. I won't run against current reps Ward(will be my next rep - unopposed) or Garcia. All of them are pro-2a and I consider them friends.
In Garcia's case, he wrote the gun lawsuit ban.
To: Digger
Unfortunately, I agree Digger. This division and in-fighting that has occurred is substantial and much of it is justified.
It seems two groups of people have emerged, the ones that are not afraid to admit that this President is a big disappointment on several of the major issues, and are very upset by it, and those that for one reason or another, refuse to see any problems, and have a genuine tinker bell attitude towards this President and his administration

Tell me honestly, did you think nobody else on this thread would have already said that?

Left leaning conservatives like yourself ...
Conservatives don't allow moral-liberal ideologues to define conservatism for us.

I am a member of my county, State, and Federal (RNC and NRSC)! Just volunteered for my State Rep's campaign who happened to get the Life license plates bill passed in OK along with a moment of silence bill on top of that -- both signed into law!
To: Cultural Jihad
Conservatives don't allow moral-liberal ideologues to define conservatism for us. Exactly. That's why you'll forever be an outsider looking in.
To: Dan from Michigan
I'll match John, even though he is a bit more of a bed fellow for you than I am, as it were. But I like you, and consider you prudent and mature, even though you are disgusting young to have achieved the latter status. I am still working on the maturity thing myself. But then I am a Booomer. Cheers.
