Dear Mr. Robinson,
I have been a loyal member of the Free Republic since before the 2000 election. I have been a Conservative since the early days of Clinton. When I found this site, I thought "Thank God, people who think like me." I have continued to think this until the more recent days. Now, it seems that there are threads left and right bashing our President.
Why? There are things the President has done which I don't agree with but my loyality still lies with him. I am not sure if these "Bush-Bashers" fail to see the reality that with politics comes comprimise or it is something worse. I feel there is a cancer in the Free Republic. Some are eating their own.
I feel that some of these people are members of the dreaded democratic underground disguised as disgruntled conservatives. They are only here to stir up trouble. What's worse, they are doing just that. I am not sure what I think you should do.
As a conservative, I believe in our moral code but I also realize the reality of politics. I back our President but if he were doing something unsavory (like lying under oath,) I could not support him. This is unlike the left's clintonista dogma. What President Bush is doing is not betraying the conservative cause. He is using politics to confound the left. Those who do not understand this are either leftists themself or unable to separate themselves from their zealousness.
This is your show. You choose who gets to be a member and who does not. Those who break your rules are banished from the kingdom. I am not discouraging free speech, but this is free speech in your forum. These Bush-Bashers are brining us down. When this infighting happened in 1992, Bill Clinton got elected. let's not let that happen again.
Yours,
Big Guy and Rusty 99
....also, could you please ban the use of the letter "M", and the numbers "2" and "7"?
I haven't cared for them since they "sponsored" an especially offensive episode of Sesame Street.
They also NEVER give GW any credit when he does well (rebuilding the military, rejecting Kyoto, rejecting UN World Court, ending the don't ask/don't tell policy, restoring dignity to the White House, etc). There's a lot of angst about some of W's actions lately, but the fat lady hasn't sung yet and I personally trust him, his judgment and his choice of people. If he were doing all of these things with a Republican Senate, then I would be very concerned, but he is being pragmatic. For example, his signing CFR disappointed me, but on the plus side, the unconstitutional aspects will be thrown out by the SCOTUS and it actually increased the political clout of some good groups' campaign contributions, such as the NRA.
You gone yet?
Bush has sold out every last fiscal conservative policy he had, lets see, he is pissing all over free trade, even if he gets fast track authority we will be hard pressed to find anyone who wants to trade with us.
Spending in Washington is out of control, and we were well on our way to a deficit long before September 11th, and unless brough under control, the national debt will start spiraling out of control again, both of these will bring down the dollar.
School Choice is dead, the federal government is getting deeper entrenched in education than ever before, the size of the government is growing with each passing day.
If it were not for September 11th, the lustre of Dubya would have long since worn off, and everyone here would be trashing Dubya as the biggest RINO of them all.
Unless Bush gets his act together on fiscally conservative issues, I will not be able to bring myself to vote for him again.
And like another poster stated earlier, blind loyalty of ANY person is foolish. Expecially, IMO, if they are a politician!
AMEN !
You're welcome.
Did Civil get banned?
I guess you are a "maybe" huh?
Not exactly.
I've been busting my ass for MCRGO for the past two years and am their PAC Treasurer. I've been active in the Livingston County GOP, and never missed a meeting as long as I have been a meeting. I am on a first name basis with both of my reps. I also personally know my congressman as well. I've gone to several fundraisers, some 120 miles away. I've gone to MCRGO events 270 miles away. I was up helping Posthumus out 240 miles away on my own time.
But, you are right. It's easy to assume I'm just an internet warrior in an easychair. I've only been awared MCRGO's Activist of the Year out of all the 30,000 members in the org.
After decades and decades of liberal indoctrination, we will not see a true conservative in the White House for at least couple more terms. There are millions of people who have been brainwashed by the liberals for several generations. We have to start somewhere, and conservative reform will not happen in a couple years. It took the liberals a long time to create this mess, and it will take conservatives a long time to clean it up. Losing the senate or house will just give the liberals that much more power and make the chance for a conservative government much more difficult. The strategy should be to get Republicans elected, retain control, especially the judicial branch, then weed out the RINOs.
Good post babe....And I concur.
