Texas has made it a totally complicated thing for a kid to get a driver's permit. If he's under 18 he must be enrolled in driver's ed school (very expensive) before he can get a permit, or I have to order a homeschool driving curriculum from Austin for $20 that takes up to 3 weeks to get here, then he has to study it and take a test to get a permit (not a license). It was the same forty years ago, except the age was 16. Even when I put Garrett thru it it was very inexpensive to go to Drivers Ed in High School. It was a lot more for a private school.

Half of the people applying at the bureau are non-English-speaking Mexicans.
American citizens in Texas get to serve the Department of Public Safety - DPS does not serve us The people there were nice enough, but the regulations are not written to serve us.

Half of the people applying at the bureau are non-English-speaking Mexicans. That is the way it is in the Southwest. It is nothing new, it has always been that way.

That is true of every burocracy everywhere.
The people there were nice enough, ....
The primary advantage of being in the South.

jesus knows the importance of self protection... when he returns, it will be for the protection of those who are struggling to protect themselves from the beast.... it will be glorious... and those that doubt the world cannot turn to such days should take a closer look at how the events of the war on terror can bring this about.
sorry to be such a downer, but after all the bad, really good stuff happens...

I'm getting used to it. I bought a mouse for it, but the driver is on a floppy, and I don't have a floppy drive - I'll look for the driver on the internet.
I like the ease of writing music CDs with the XP's media player
To: ValerieUSA
At first I/We hated the XP .. but once I (hubby) figured every thing out we found it to be pretty neat

I got the XP for dummies book. It still hasn't helped me with a couple of probs, but I am slowly getting this thing figured it out. The instructions for making a music CD let me do it right the very first time!! YAY
To: ValerieUSA
I should get one of those XP for Dummies .. it might help instead of learning things the hard way

It's marked 20% off at B&N now, and with reader's advantage you get another 10% off, so it wasn't unreasonable. A decent owner's manual ought to be included with a computer and operating system purchase.
