Other parts hurting today - lifing a fat Gateway from the pickup has resulted in a back twinge - I know the magnetic pad will take care of that prob.
And you're right, I'd forgotten about the pride that comes with the perfectly ironed piece of goods - not everyone can cut it in that department, not that they'd really want to. Cheers! ;-)

Hi Darksheare
I love your post bout Mimi
when chrissie's pic popped up I thought I was lookin' at a cat I had too
but my cat was just a tabby, not an unusual cat like you had or Chrissie's cat

Darks' cat sounds most interesting. Have you ever seen a male calico, or a female solid yellow tabby? I've not.

Actually, no. She was a hunter unequalled, and that is what killed her. She stalked wasps, birds, and anything else that acted like prey. While setting up a TV antenna, a wasp nest was disturbed. We sprayed the wasps and waited. I closed off the room with the window out to where the nest and antenna were, but the cat got into the room anyway. She ate a wasp that had been sprayed. Choleo-intestinase inhibitors, that's what wasp spray is. Neuro toxins and other such. Shut Mimi's kidneys down. That was three years ago. Still wish no-one had opened that door after I said not to.
But the past is the past, and no use crying over it now. But still, I saw that pic and thought I saw a ghost. Maybe when I finally relent and put a pic o' my ugly mug up, someone will think I look like someone else too...

She was an odd mix. She was a long haired critter, large and attitude. Mackeral tabby with white. But she looked like a Norwiegian Forest Cat. Never seen a female yellow tabby. Nor a male calico. But I have seen a male tortoise shell. One spot of advice, Don't Anger a Bengali.
To: Kathleen
Hi Kathleen
I'm back on (I guess you've left)
Bill asked me to check his yahoo email for him, and when he had messages he came in to respond to them
seems it took him an hour responding to one message (he's new at email)
and when it wouldn't send he called me
I knew I shoulda saved it for him
but it had an option called ''save in draft,'' and I pressed that, and thought it would be ok
turned out connection to internet was shut off for non activity
and when I got back on, I had to log onto yahoo mail again
then of course his email was lost, and nothing showed up in drafts folder
I said he could dictate it to me, and I would type it fast for him
(once a secretary, always a secretary lol)
email was from Pete, president of Bill's grotto (cavers' group) asking members to vote whether the $12 annual dues should be paid all at once, and about buying a used slide projector
Bill voted to pay annual dues all at once, he said $12 is not a lot of money, and if a good used slide projector can be bought, it would be great to have slide shows of cave trips at meetings

what an interesting cat Mimi was
she's strong to eat wasps
I bet she was a beauty if she was long haired
my calico was not long haired, but she sure was pretty

here out West the bumblebees are different than the ones back East
they are enormous
but my dog Skippy, he was huge sheperd x
used to eat them like bonbons
I would run out of the room when one arrived, but Skippy would come rushing in to catch it and eat it

Thanks for the advice - I don't know that we have Bengallis down south. I do know that on CapeCod they have some huge kitties, both feral and domestic. Makes our Texas cats look positively puny!
Still no one who's seen the calico male, or the solid yellow tabby female...the quest continues after 30 years. JL

hi loddy
I have had many calico cats, but they were all female
I only had one orange cat, he dropped in when we were in the country (when I was a child) stayed for a short while and then moved on
I don't remember what sex he was (I don't know if I knew?)
altho my friend Karen had a ginger cat which was male

hi andysmom
we used to have summer house in adirondacks
it was fairly primitive
instead of stove my mom used hot plate
and for stove she had black tin thing she set on hot plate
she used to cook roast chicken in it and also apple pie for dad (we had apples out back)
it had ice box (ernie delivered the ice with horse and cart)
and for washing machine she had that thing your mom had
where she had to put clothes thru a mangle

oh, how sad! so sorry you lost her!
calicos are always female. i had heart that orange tabbies were always male, but in my volunteer work with cats while in san diego, i did meet one yellow/orange female tabby.
