What the heck??? ... so you think pipe bombs going off in mail boxes and injurying people are ok???
Did I say that?? What DID I say??
To: gratefulwharffratt
They appreciated the right to govern themselves according to their standards and not the standards of a depraved, insane (doped up?) king. But they were still collectivists.
To: Mo1
TRUST = RESPECT and NO many have not earned that
and please stop putting words in my mouth .. you have been doing that ALL day
And why do any Individuals HAVE to earn your respect?? Why are YOUR preferences preferable to my preferences.
This is the EXACTLY same thing that we bitch about EVERY day. Somebody in Gov't wanting to make homosexual marriages legal, or to raise your taxes to enforce some bureaucrat's preferences. I can't see how come you can't realize that.
To: gratefulwharffratt
A successful society is made up of a complex mixture of united government and individualism.

You said ..."Those who are willing to trade essential Liberty for temporary security deserve neither."
Just because I want a little security from a nut case pipe bomber I am giving up my Liberities???

Somebody in Gov't wanting to make homosexual marriages legal...Wouldn't the true libertarian object to the government acknowledgement or sanction of marriage? Any marriage?
To: ValerieUSA
Why is there a law against murder?
My rights end, where your rights begin.

And why do any Individuals HAVE to earn your respect?? Why are YOUR preferences preferable to my preferences. They don't HAVE to .. but if they WANT to then they have to earn their trust

Is the family the building block of western civilization -- or is it the adult individual?
To: Mo1
In the meantime....how're the girls?

Any cultures you can recommend joining that used these peaceful drugs for more than 2 generations?
This better be good....
Yes, the culture in the United States of America. They were legal here from 1787 when the Constitution was ratified, until 1913, when opiates, and cocaine were outlawed.
And it WAS good. I wish Americans were even aware of their own history, much less the greater issues of Individualism and Collectivism. Therefore, I have little hope that we will RETURN to an attitude where the rights of the Individual are appreciated, and this insane WOD is overturned.

Primary building block of any civilization?
Hemp.....Duuuuhhh!
:-)

Why are my rights as a parent insignificant compared to the rights of dopers? Oh... I guess they are equal. We all have the same right to get stoned in front of my kids.
To: Prentice

Can you explain to my dope addled mind, EXACTLY what the purpose of the Bill of Rights is, please??
To: gratefulwharffratt
Sorry charlie....our culture didn't use these things en masse ever....till after the sixties.
You need a refresher course from a different history prof...
To: ValerieUSA
..."Why have I been taken advantage of time and again by "fellow man"? Because I trusted fellow man. Now what has that got to do with anything?"...
Because our Constitution was meant for a people that could self-govern....if they can't govern or control themselves, our Constitution is meaningless.
Did the fellow man overstep one of your rights?

You wear rose-colored glasses when you read history books, don't you? How cute!
