Congrats on your new little bundle of joy!
My youngest stepdaughter's little girl was fine with the idea too about a little brother until they brought him home. Brandy was a pain about it for years...well now Sean is taller and he does not take any crap from Brandy anymore!
gotta tell a funny story about the two kids... Brandy was about 5 and Sean 4. One day at lunch,Brandy shoved her brother off his chair and he nearly got a fork stuck in his face. Brandy got the whale of a spanking for that. Then not too long after that, Sean did something to Brandy to retaliate...Brandy came whinning to her mom to rat ( sorry Ratty) on him... So Mama ordered Sean down to the rec room for dicipline. Brandy wanted to come too to see the punishment... So mama told her to hush or she would come down and get some of the same.. That shut Brandy up. Once Down stairs, mama told Sean to whail after she gave him a " high five" for finally putting Brandy in her place.

And I agree also....I trust my fellow Americans to make stupid mistakes if they so desire. Matter of fact, it is their right to be wrong!
I don't trust those who want 'government' to handle things because today it might be drugs, tomorrow tobacco, Thursday against fattening foods or fast foods, Friday could be against anyone over the age of 80, Saturday could be against all evangelicals, Sunday against all redheads, and Monday against all blue-eyed blondes, and next Tuesday they'd be against anyone making $100,000 or more or perhaps anyone with a disability.
I can hear the voices of Washington, Adams, Jefferson, Madison, and many others and they all seem to be saying, "What the F____! You mean we pledged our fortunes, our lives, and our liberties for this bunch of statists. You mean we had real patriots shedding their blood for this?"

One thing about it....each kid is an individual and has to be handled in that manner.
My oldest I could merely talk to and get the positive responses. The younger one.....pure bull-headed German [we are not German, so far as I've been able to determine so far]! She was sooooooo bad that when caught red-headed she would deny she had done something wrong!
Probably her biggest shock came when she told my husband 'he couldn't spank her--that Mom wouldn't let him'...and she called for me....I went in there and she told me to tell him he couldn't spank her....I said, "Honey, let me dry my hands first--be right back". Her face turned a pasty, sickly looking white as she realized her ass was about to get popped!

I think you might want to read the last 300 or so posts. Unless you are just looking to start up Round 2, that is.

George Washington - speaking to and for WE the People:
Proclamation of January 1, 1795
BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.
A PROCLAMATION.
When we review the calamities which afflict so many other nations, the present condition of the United States affords much matter of consolation and satisfaction. Our exemption hitherto from foreign war, an increasing prospect of the continuance of that exemption, the great degree of internal tranquillity we have enjoyed, the recent confirmation of that tranquillity by the suppression of an insurrection which so wantonly threatened it, the happy course of our public affairs in general, the unexampled prosperity of all classes of our citizens, are circumstances which peculiarly mark our situation with indications of the Divine beneficence toward us. In such a state of things it is in an especial manner our duty as a people, with devout reverence and affectionate gratitude, to acknowledge our many and great obligations to Almighty God and to implore Him to continue and confirm the blessings we experience.
Deeply penetrated with this sentiment, I, George Washington, President of the United States, do recommend to all religious societies and denominations, and to all persons whomsoever within the United States to set apart and observe Thursday, the 19th day of February next, as a day of public thanksgiving and prayer, and on that day to meet together and render their sincere and hearty thanks to the Great Ruler of Nations for the manifold and signal mercies which distinguish our lot as a nation, particularly for the possession of constitutions of government which unite and by their union establish liberty with order; for the preservation of our peace, foreign and domestic; for the seasonable control which has been given to a spirit of disorder in the suppression of the late insurrection, and generally, for the prosperous course of our affairs, public and private; and at the same time humbly and fervently to beseech the kind Author of these blessings graciously to prolong them to us; to imprint on our hearts a deep and solemn sense of our obligations to Him for them; to teach us rightly to estimate their immense value; to preserve us from the arrogance of prosperity, and from hazarding the advantages we enjoy by delusive pursuits; to dispose us to merit the continuance of His favors by not abusing them; by our gratitude for them, and by a correspondent conduct as citizens and men; to render this country more and more a safe and propitious asylum for the unfortunate of other countries; to extend among us true and useful knowledge; to diffuse and establish habits of sobriety, order, morality, and piety, and finally, to impart all the blessings we possess, or ask for ourselves, to the whole family of mankind.
In testimony whereof I have caused the seal of the United States of America to be affixed to these presents, and signed the same with my hand. Done at the city of Philadelphia, the 1st day of January, 1795, and of the Independence of the United States of America the nineteenth. G. WASHINGTON
An official GOVERNMENT document by a founding father who would be appalled at the abuse of "freedom" we see today in America known as drug use. It was not what he meant by "liberty."

I think you might want to read the last 300 or so posts. Unless you are just looking to start up Round 2, that is. Oh give me a break .. You make it sound like we want the Government to tell us when we can wipe our butts
I believe the topic was whether drugs should be legal or not
I have MENTIONED on SEVERAL occasions that many of the laws about drugs are STUPID .. but you will NEVER convince me that drugs are a good thing

Well that is a relief, because I have NEVER tried to convince you that drugs are good. Drugs are not good.

In the days of the founding fathers, cities had laws against public drunkeness... which would have been public intoxication of any kind. I don't think the founding fathers wasted one moment of their time fighting against such ordinances.

Would this be the same founding father who was sworn in on a Bible printed on Hemp?? And the same founding father who grew hemp at Mount Vernon?? Jefferson also had journal entries about separating the males in part of his hemp crop. The ONLY reason for that, is if you wanted to smoke the flowers.
Hemp has been with man since the garden of eden. They dug up mummies on the steppes of Asia, who were buried with little pouches of weed. Ditto on the Egyptian pharoahs.
The historical record is VERY clear on the usefulness of hemp. Yes, we can discuss that for weeks. The prohibitionists don't have an historical leg to stand on.

For the same reason that I would defend every other Right that Individuals have, instead of just the ones that YOU approve of.
It is what we Individualists do. I don't smoke either, but I will fight that prohibition too.
To: gratefulwharffratt
Have you changed your mind? Drugs ARE good for this moment?
To: gratefulwharffratt
"Usefulness of hemp" has nothing to do with sobriety. Books published on hemp paper are NOT the subject at hand. Go home, Woody Harrelson, and let Ratty have his Magic Apple back.

Come on Mo - he's saying that the gov should not ever be able to tell us to squirt or swat. If you can't believe that we are I N D I V I D U A L S! Then why are we speaking?

The Constitution of the United States lays out what fedgov can and can't do....its powers are VERY limited under the Constitution, though the bastard politicians have claimed for themselves various powers clearly not given them.
All powers not enumerated in the Constitution, was retained to the people and the States. Obviously, the Founding Fathers, by omitting drugs, drunkedness, education, social security, etc., out of the Constitution meant they were reserved unto the States or the People.....where the Founders felt they belonged.
The premise was that should a city/county/state become so restrictive a citizen could no longer abide it, they could move....a far different situation that trying to change citizenship.
The Founders didn't have a problem with a lot of issues--just where those issues belonged. For instance, Jefferson was very supportive of education....but not at the federal level.

Every illegal substance that I have been advocating is made from naturally occurring substances and plants. (I RARELY eat any tablets that have man-made chemicals in them. When I tore up my elbow, I never finished the percacettes or the Oxycontin they prescribed me.)
These things are neither 'good' nor 'bad.' They only exist. Since they were created by a Perfect God, I would guess that they are NOT evil.
If you want to anthropomorphize them into having human traits, then they should only be responsible for allowing humans to reveal their darker side, when ABUSED.
And we know that some humans have a very dark side, as befitting their 'fallen' status.
