No, not quite 10 pounds... Grant was 9 lbs, then 9 lbs 7 oz Gavin, then Garrett who was 9 lbs 11 oz... then Gabe who was just a teensy one at 7 lbs 11 oz (he was 2 weeks early) ... oh well. It was all a long time ago. Gabe is 12 now and 140 pounds and can bench press 135.

And you don't think that women KNOW that men only think about "I", "I", "I", or "me", "me", "me"? We KNOW y'all don't care.

Sadly, we're all a bit like Clinton in that regard...

Here's to ya, loddy.....

From "In The Early Days of Lemhi County", April 18, 2002, issue of The Recorder Herald.

50 Years Ago [1952]
* For conspicuous service as commanding officer of the minesweeper USS Kite, in Korean waters in 1950, Lt. Nicholas Grkovic, of Salmon, has been awarded the Silver Star medal, it was announced this week by the US Navy.
* The communities of Shoup and North Fork, and residents living down the Salmon river wish to express their thanks to Dr. Young of Omaha, Nebraska, for having the road from Shoup to the Middle Fork cleared of snow slides Tuesday night at his own expense.

60 Years Ago [1942]
* The state fish and game commission must reimburse counties for expenses of keeping persons in jail who are charged with violation of hunting and fishing regulations. Attorney General Bert H,. Miller ruled this week. County commissioners may determine a 'reasonable compensdation' but it must not exceed $1 per day.
* Don Wietzig is in this community this week doing some plowing for several ranchers.

70 Years Ago [1932]
* Today is the last day of grace for the dogs in this city that have no license tags. A hard-hearted-dog-catcher will start snatching up these unfortunate canines this week--truckloads of them--and they will have to face a firing squad if their owners fail to dig up three dollars per dog.

80 Years Ago [1922]
* Martin Larson was found dead in a cabin at the Dyke Thursday evening along with a perfectly live still and a great quantity of its completed product. Coroner Doebler and Sheriff Stroud officiated at the obsequies this morning, having the help of Ben Galleger, Charles Anscomb, and Leonard Lance in disposing of othe spirits of the still, the human obsequies to take place later. Larsen left a deposit in one of the Salmon banks.
* FOR SALE -- Men's Work Shirts. Exceptional value, 79c. Silk Jersey Petticoats, $1.98. Radium Silk Petticoats, $4.49. Cotton Petticoats, 98c.

90 Years Ago [1912]
* Sheriff Maffey arrived Friday from San Francisco, bringing with him Harvey Sprague, whose fame suddenly shone out rcently as a self-confessed crib-cracker. Sprague is fully converted and deeply pentitent. He talks freely of his deeds, tells everything, and will face the court with a clean breast of the job. There is no doubting his guilt, although he says he never before blew open a safe, and that Stevens, his pal, showed him how the trick is done. He says they procured their nitroglycerine here, by squeezing it out of previous thawed powder; Stevens taught him this part of it. They thus got about four ounces of nitroglycerine, but used only about half of it on the safe.

100 Years Ago [1902]
* A man named Cody caught a fine large otter in a trap in the Salmon river about eight miles above here last Friday. He was exhibiting him in town and created quite an excitement.
* Tom Chaffin, of the 17 Mile House, is in town today for the first time since November. He reports grass three to four inches high in that locality and stock on the range doing well. The ranchers have commenced plowing.
* Will Sims has been confined to the county jail since Friday. He was examined and pronounced insane and will be taken to the State Asylum at Blackfoot as soon as an attendant comes to take him there.

110 Years Ago [1892]
* Hon. E.S. Suydam has been circulating a petition to the county commissioners praying for a road to be made between Boyle's ranch and the mouth of North Fork. Over 150 names were signed the middle of last week. We hope it can be arranged in some way so this road can be construted.
* Quite a number of our young people attended a dance at the Hot Springs on Monday night. They report having a splendid time. Dancing was kept up until "Old Sol" made his appearance Tuesday morning when the guests departed for their respective homes.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

LETITRING AND DARLIN'.....I thought you two ladies would enjoy shopping for the petticoats!!! :)

Thought I'd die laughing over the safe cracker!!!

Interesting they used the petition process as far back as 110 years ago.

Found the cost of licensing a dog back in the 30s to be steep--especially for a rural area. Oh well.....I didn't realize they even licensed pets back then!!! :)
