I am constantly in awe when I go to Boston, Philadelphia and DC. Go to Philadelphia and visit Independence Hall. I swear it takes everything I have not to break down in tears for being so grateful for our founding fathers.
I was very fortunate to be in Independence Hall about 4 years ago when they were restoring the room where they signed the Declaration of Independence. All the furniture was out of the room and we were allowed to walk on the very floors that held Thomas Jefferson, Ben Franklin, John Hancock............ It was a very hot and humid September day. The heat was stifling. It was the very same heat that our Founding Fathers experienced that July 4th when they put their lives on the line and committed treason against the king and signed that document. Under the heavy curtains and militia surrounding the building to protect against the British, those brave ( and really really hot) men made sure that 226 years later that we have freedom.

I arrived in PHL early for a business meeting once and was able to dash over to see the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall. You're right - when I stop to consider what the founding fathers went through to create this nation, and how utterly brilliant they were, I am in awe - complete, utter, speechless awe. Mr. M and I visited Revere's house a few years ago, along with Concord, Lexington and a few other notable Revolutionary War sites, and it was a moving experience. Everyone should visit Boston and walk the Freedom Trail.

Enjoyed Philadelphia. MY niece lives nearby. I was rather disappointed in the building the Liberty Bell was enclosed. Infact when I first saw the line going into it, I thought it was an outhouse. That I realized, NOT behind Independence Hall! GEEZZ

That = Then I'm getting sleeeeeepy! Good night folks!

You're correct about the SS details continuing for life for the former first ladies If you haven't seen it, you MUST rent "Guarding Tess". Nicholas Cage plays an SS agent assigned to Tess, a beloved former First Lady whose husband had died while in office. Shirley McLaine plays Tess and is just outstanding!! Truly one of the funniest and most touching movies I've ever seen!

I am saddened by the loss of Roberti Urich. I liked him in so many roles but my very favorite was his Lonesome Dove role. May he rest in peace.

Was that item about Chelsea recent? I mean, goodness, what are she and Ian doing in NYC. Is Oxford still on spring break?
Benjamin Bratt got married over the weekend. I guess that is why Julia went running to Lyle Lovett's side. That and the fact that her cameraman boyfriend went back to his wife. A bad week for Julia, hee hee.

Welcome back. I am glad you had a safe trip. Your descriptions of Boston and Philadelphia have made me want to take a trip back there and do the things you described. And congratulations to Mr. M.

Wow, that was a quickie wedding for Bratt. I guess Miss " I LOVE MY LIFE" Roberts might be hating life right now. I wonder how it feels to be irrelevant.

Lovely wedding picture.

Re: Julia
Well at least Denzel won the Oscar so she does not have to leave the country now.

And don't forget, she got to kiss Sidney Portier.

Maybe she should go to London and buy herself a new hat.

I don't know where you come up with your photos, but I must say that I alway appreciate them. Good work on the chapeau's.

Please help me out with this photo. I cannot find the hat nor the dress. Is this part of that "plumbers pants" style? I got this off of Reuters so I Know I am not seeing what I think I am seeing.

I really enjoyed our thread the other day about hats and got enthusiastic about hats again and then I stumble upon these photos.. Definitely dampens ones enthusiasm for hats.

To: daisyscarlett
I think the hat are those horn things on her head. That is possibly the dress that looks like it blew up in the wind from last month's photo fashion show.
It's always a shame when you go commando and the whole world can see your smushed tuckus.
Enough nonsense about what poses for fashion acroos the pond.
Here in the good ole USA we have a classy and conservative first lady, PTL.

LOL...I guess I had best go to bed now. Perhaps it will all make sense after a good nights rest.
