Mexico takes gold

MEXICO CITY - Mexico, long known for its tequila, was a surprise winner at the 36th Vinitaly event, one of the largest in the wine industry. Mexico won a gold medal for a 2000 Chardonnay produced by Vinícola L.A. Cetto, located in Baja California. The country received five other honorable mentions in the contest.
