BARF ALERT

Bill Clinton will play his saxophone to encourage people to vote. The former US president will reprise his act to raise funds for the Democratic Party and encourage its voters to register.

Mr Clinton will play star alongside Michael Jackson and Tony Bennett at next month's event at Harlem's Apollo Theatre, New York. The event, co-hosted by actors Cicely Tyson and Chris Tucker, will raise around $2.5 million for Every Vote Counts, the Democratic Party's national voter registration drive. It is to be the first of a series of similar fundraisers around the country, Democratic National Committee officials said.

The legendary Apollo Theatre is located in the heart of New York's Harlem neighbourhood, just down the street from Mr Clinton's office, where he is penning his presidential memoirs.
Story filed: 12:47 Sunday 24th March 2002 source.

...and encourage its voters to register.

This would be a novel concept for many dimms. Thanks for your thread-work, and have a wonderful Palm Sunday.

ds- I wouldn't blame you, honey. And you don't have to worry about me - I only have a 20gg shotgun. It's that wild woman, Mountaineer, that packs serious heat! Good thing she likes us (I hope!).

This would be a novel concept for many dimms...

Actually, you give them too much credit. Once they're registered, the dims can vote them whether or not they appear in person (or even if they're still alive!). In the dims' world, registering is the same as future voting.

I hope the slimy one chokes on the critical editorial in this morning's NY Times. The editorial deals with Whitewater and the Clintons' propensity to stonewall. Here's where I hope he choked:

The nation may never again see a president with Bill Clinton's natural political talents, his instinctive grasp of policy and his breadth of understanding of governmental issues. He was capable of being an extraordinary leader. The fact that he turned out to be so much less is a tragedy, and the tragedy's first act was about Whitewater.
Considering the source, pretty harsh words. I love it!

ciao i miei cari amici!!!!

I am back!!! What did I miss? My mailbox is full of Oscar advice, tips, photos, predictions. I just can't wait for tonight.

I had a fabulous time, so much to tell you all. I did miss you all terribly, but I never had a free moment to log on. My the looks of this place I wouldn't have been able to find you anyway. More on my rant about this new format tomorrow.

I am preparing my Oscar thread and I think I have most of it ready to go for tonight. What time should we start this?

I am not going to stick us in the Cheese Hole Forum because this is is the most anticipated thread of the year.

You all have your jobs for this evening. We need all shows and websites monitored for fashions.

I am so happy to be back. Hello my dear friends!

And thank you Mountaineer for starting the threads. I was in Amsterdam when I realised that I never asked you to start them. Looks like you have been doing a fabulous job. Thanks so much.

The festivities start at 6 pm EST on E for the River's show, then on to ABC at 7 pm EST for the Wa-Wa special and the telecast is at 8 pm EST on ABC.

Did you hear about the Million Dollar shoes? Here they are:

A pair of shoes designed by Stuart Weitzman that are supposed to be worn by actress Laura Elena Harring of the film "Mulholland Drive," are displayed prior to the 74th annual Academy Awards Sunday, March 24, 2002, in Los Angeles. The shoes are worth about $1 million. (AP Photo/Doug Mills)

Re: Miss Paltrow. I was reading the new STYLE magazine on the plane and they gush all over Gwynneth for being the icon of modern style.

Do none of these fashion critics have a brain in their head? Gwynneth's clothes NEVER fit properly. When she wore that pink Oscar dress the very first thing I thought was that the dress did not fit at the bustline and the necklace looked like it was choking her to death. Paltrow also has the worse hair, it's never styled, it just hangs there like thin straw and she has horrible posture.

So how can she be the new ' Grace Kelly' when we have women like Catherine Zeta Jones.
