Both smaller scale. Pamela Bruner plays the celtic harp and sings. She adds some acoustic instruments (hammered dulcimer, oboe, flute, percussion) to her arrangements. But they're quite "quiet". She has the voice of an angel.

Rowallan Consort plays true medieval music (generally on ancient instruments). They play a wide range of such music, including celtic and Scottish. They are a duet but add musicians for most of their arrangements.

OOO WEE! I LOVE medieval and renaissance music! Boston Camerata did a lovely 'Renaissance Christmas' CD a few years back. I had the album, but got it last year on CD. It is wonderful!

I'm going to check out the Rowallan Consort.

I looked up Rowallan Consort on Amazon.com and this is what came up. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00005B1GK/qid%3D1035249830/sr%3D11-1/ref%3Dsr%5F11%5F1/103-5529812-8987851

Does this look familiar? The songs mentioned are definitely Medieval, but the name of the CD strikes me as a little odd.

I'll check Pamela Bruner and Rowallan Consort later. Sounds like they might be a bit too "pretty" for right now...I tend to go through phases where music is concerned. Have you heard of Joemy Wilson? I think you might really like her. She plays the hammmered dulcimer beautifully - lots of O'Carolan pieces, in particular. I haven't listened to her CDs that often lately, but they're VERY nice.

Lately I've mostly been listening to more upbeat stuff (though with a good mix of slow songs, too...fast gets tiring after awhile!) - bands like Silly Wizard (Scotland), Patrick Street (Ireland), the Bothy Band (Ireland), and Reeltime, which is Irish but plays a mix of tunes - I like them a lot!
