No! Not Italian! BBQ a cabrito!

She'd probably like that, but she prefers not to have to cook on her birthday. ;-)

By the we, I had the Tortellini ala Cabonara, and she had Chicken Alfredo. Both very good, and unfortunately neither of us had room left for dessert!

please tell me some of you people have read the Ender books?

I know of them, but haven't read them. Most of the SF I read is pre-1980. ;-)

Overtaxed should post some pictures of the precious...

Now that would be funny.

Completely irreverant, but funny.

any questions or guesses about woman's age

Remember, there aren't many dwarf women around. Now we may know why.

We're all coming over to your house! When will the stuff come off the grill?

Oh wow, now we're going to have to clean house... and buy a grill, I guess.

Did you notice how JenB referred to us as "you people" up there in the thinly veiled insult up there about those books she thought we should all know about?

please tell me some of you people have read the Ender books?

My daughter and I just got back from the cheap seats theater seeing FoTR for the 5th time

I'm trying to convince my missus to go and see it for our 3rd viewing, so that we can see the TTT teaser (TTTT?) Still playing in 2 non-discount theaters here in Austin.

Should I join the other sneaks and try for it?

It came and went before I even realized it was there. Darn dial-up connection.....

I'm hoping it hits the cheap theater here. Ours is one of those old theaters with the pipe organ. The guy still plays it on Saturday nights. It rises out of the orchestra pit.

In it's heyday, the organist was a man named Eddie Weaver.

From what I'm told the "in" thing to do was to go to the Byrd Theater and watch Eddie Weaver's organ rise...

Bad dwarf. Very bad dwarf...

I checked out the you thread you mentioned re the Levys. I'm afraid to speak my thoughts about it, because I'm sure I'll offend someone...

Is this whole FR site slowing way down or is it just my computer?

Sorry, did not mean to insult. I am quite tired and not thinking straight.

Anyway, the Ender books are by Orson Scott Card. The ones I like best are Ender's Game, Ender's Shadow, Shadow of the Hegemon, and Speaker for the Dead (incidentally that's the order I would recommend reading them in.)

They happen to be some of the best sci-fi written lately, and Game and the Shadow series are absolutely brilliant and true. Speaker for the Dead is a little different from the others but good, in a way.... if you can stand books about brilliant children, and science fiction to boot, they're a great series. Also, since we're talking religion, Card is a Mormon but his books are some of the most, well, Christian, out there.
