It's in The Book! :)
We've had a fake tree for the last 7 yrs. We solved the 'scent dilemma' by placing heavily pine (or balsam) scented candles or potpourri in the same room. You don't have to burn the candles; if you can get hold of some "Yankee" brand Candles, they are very heavily scented just sitting there!
As far as the looks of the tree, there are some gorgeous fake trees out there now, and once you get the lights and ornaments on it, you can't tell it's fake! I wrap tiny white lights around the branches inside the tree, then put multi color lights around the outer branches. It is a lovely effect! Why don't you go look at some already decorated in the stores and think about it during this season. You could probably get a good deal on one during the after Christmas sales.
We don't put our tree up until mid-December, but we always leave it up until Epiphany or later. We couldn't do that with a real tree with the heat on in the house. It would dry it out WAY too fast!
Not at all! We are just missing some of our talkers!
Hullo! Good evening!
Thank you for posting that link! It is fun!
I actually made a clown that looked like Bill Clinton. Now that's evil!
Australian pine, huh? Never heard of it. (Showing my tree ignorance here!)
By the way, how was the Thanksgiving visit with your daughter?
Suzi - thanks for the suggestions. I'll pass them along to my family and see what they think.
I didn't get any SPAM either, but I did get the beef stew and chicken and dumplings that 2J mentioned. I'll taste test them and see if I've found a shortcut for quick lunches around here!
And, of course, it figures that I finally get a chance to visit the Hobbit Hole at night and there is no one to talk to. I don't know how long I'll be online, but I'll pop back in if I can! :)
While I was waiting, I saw an awesome TTT trailer on TV! I get so giddy and excited when I see them, I embarrass myself. :)
We saw one here as well (we're watching "24")... it was the same one Rose saw on Thanksgiving Day. The excitement is building... it's gettin' so we can't hardly wait!
I saw these for the first time when we went down to Key West in Jan. of 2001. They are neat looking, and when I asked the tour guide at Ft. Zachary Taylor about them, he said "Take some home with you, please!!" As Sam said, they are considered 'pest plants', though I bet they're not as bad as KUDZU!!
