So should we just end the thread there then?
To: HairOfTheDog
No!! I've never seen a thread just implode at the end....I have got to see that!
I say we start the new thread when this one won't allow any more posting. Let's name it "Welcome to Middle Earth" or something...I don't care. I just want to see this thread come to a conclusion.
I never got over how abruptly we left the "New Zealander builds Hobbit Hole".
To: 2Jedismom
You thought we left abruptly? - Goodness we talked about it for a week or more!
It had to be abrupt or y'all never would have moved!
Get to posting if you want to see this one implode! - We need a new one for TTT.

I thought 50,000 posts might be a nice round number to end at... but filling up the thread so that it can't take any more posts sounds kind of fun too.
I wish LCS were here to tell us how long it would take to reach ~65k!

I guess it sounds that way!
Well folks! - I am out the door! - On my way up to the beach house for a home theater extravaganza - oh, and to visit my family too!

Thank you, Bear.

Maybe my standards have been set too high, but those movies hold no interest for me. It was torture sitting thru them.We had gotten Star Wars AOTC from Netflix for our son. We watched it last night, and Sir SuziQ remarked on how cheesy it seemed after having watched FoTR!
To: 2Jedismom
(They never did, of course because Mama was a walking pacifier...hahahah!)LOL! Yeah, that's fine unless you've got a barracuda who slurps while he's eating!
To: SuziQ
I thought it sucked also. Especially since the protagonist was an idiot.
I did enjoy the computer generated whatever it is stuff, though. And Christopher Lee, too, now that I am an admirer of him.
To: 2Jedismom
JRD has the worst luck!
To: Sam Cree
And Christopher Lee, too, now that I am an admirer of him.Well, the Count escaped at the end of AOTC, so I guess Christopher Lee will be reprising his role in the next Star Wars film. Amazing how much work he's had recently, good for him!
To: SuziQ
I really enjoy listening to Lee's voice...One of my favorite parts of FOTR is listening to his voice resonate when he calls "down the mountain" on the fellowship, while they are attempting the pass at Caradhras.

I'm spending Thanksgiving with my daughter who just bought a 65" high definition system with the sound stuff too. She called yesterday to tell me she has purchased the Special Edition too! I can't wait! She really knows how to torture me. lol
To: Sam Cree
What did you think of the Extended Version, when Gandalf called back?
To: Rocko
I didn't see the extended version yet.
A bunch of us are getting together, including my twin brother and his family, for thanksgiving, which coincides with Chanukah this year. So, if my daughter will get it for me for Chanukah, while she's home from college for thanksgiving, we can all watch it together one night, as there are some fans in the family.
But I liked Gandalf's voice pretty much at the bridge with the "You shall not Pass!," etc.

Does anyone know what Gimli says to Haldir before entering Lorien?
To: John Farson
According to
The Elvish Dialog List...
It is an unkind answer of Gimli to Haldir. Included in the extended DVD edition of FotR. The words don't have any clear meaning. It is to imitate the language of the Dwarves.
Ishkhaqwi ai durugnul.
To: 2Jedismom
Thanks! It is a pity Tolkien didn't reveal more about Khuzdul.
To: John Farson; 2Jedismom
At least we know it wasn't "The axes of the Dwarves are among you!" :)
Really. If Khuzdul is supposed to be a secret language of the Dwarves, how come Aragorn got after Gimli like that? For all Aragorn knew, he could have been saying "hello!"
