(blush) stop that ladies... yer makin' me giddy...
tried to respond earlier, but between FR slows and firewall blues, I ain't been able to post since this a.m.... anyone in the chat room?
To: ksen
I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm getting kind of excited about hearing the results from today. It feels like good things may be getting ready to happen.I have been on edge all afternoon. Got all the state election websites bookmarked to keep up with returns, Fox News on in the background, lots of Dr Pepper in the fridge, and I'm ready for a long night.

Sam, let me correct my post on .308 and 7mm .08...
.308 drops 16-19 inches at 300 yds, and 36 - 40 inches at 400 yds...
sorry for the original error...

My wife and me decided to get married pretty young, in college. But when we "really" decided to make it happen, I went upstairs and asked her dad for her hand (I was takin' it anyway, at least I thought so). But I wonder if that's what usually happens. Do guys still do that, ask the girl's dad if it's OK?
I was 24, Jeanne was 21, seems like a long time ago, seems like yesterday.

I can head in there and find out!
To: g'nad
Thanks very very much for the info. I'm going to copy it into an e-mail to my nephew. He was going to fire my Remington 700 .270, which I think is a nicely balanced gun, and see how he liked it.

The answer is.... no one is in there at the moment... 'cept me.

And me.

and me...

I guess I wouldn't expect guys to do that anymore, but I for one would find it touching if he did. I guess I'm kind of old fashioned at heart.

I was so touched, I forgot to close my italics...

This is what I posted at DU.... Can you believe they deleted it?
To: HairOfTheDog
Really? I can't imagine why....
To: HairOfTheDog
Very good

We were 22 when we got married; 21 when we told the folks. We just went into the Living room and told them what we planned to do. It was funny because they didn't really react at all; kind of like, ok, whatever! They liked Sir SuziQ, so I guess that helped. He had 'prospects' you might say. I think my Daddy would have laughed out loud if he had 'asked for my hand'. Daddy would probably have said, "Well it's her hand, you don't need to ask ME"!
We must have done something right, 27 yrs. and 4 kids later, we're still together and still happy!
Sir SuziQ was having a discussion with one of his sisters once about what was MOST important to keep a marriage together. She said love, he said loyalty. Loving feelings wax and wane in every marriage, but the loyalty keeps folks together to get through the harder times and back to the loving times.
To: SuziQ
Odd coincidence, this marriage talk. My parents' 20th anniversary is tomorrow and we celebrated tonight - that and choir practice and election watching is where I've been. They were very young - heck, I'm older now than Mom was when she had me - but they've done really well.
Today's Chapter is up.
Election news looks fairly good! Our gubernatorial candidate lost, of course, but we keep our Rep, so... how are everyone's races?

OK,
here is the next part of my story. I also made a [very basic]
index page.

Oh...and things DO actually start happening soon, I promise! Just takes me awhile to get going...

Mazel Tov to your folks, Jen!
The election news is looking good up here in MA. Mitt Romney won the Governor's race; I was truly shocked! I thought O'Brien had it in the bag, but then I've been getting the info about it from the MA news channels, none of which are conservative!
I'm thrilled with the news on the House and Senate races. Looks like the Widow Carnahan is going down to defeat! I sure hope Norm Coleman pulls it out in MN; that's another one on which the polls were WAY wrong!! We may actually take back the Senate with a one or two vote cushion which would discourage any party jumping by Lincoln Chaffee!
