A direct descendent of the Chinese philosopher Confucius has become a hip hop rapper.
Kung Ling Chi says his ancestor encouraged young people to use the arts, so he's chosen rap music to spread a positive message.
Confucius once said music is a crown which can help perfect a man's character.
The singer, known as Jeffrey Kung, is a 76th generation descendent of the philosopher.
He sings in Mandarin and English and has released an album in Taiwan, The Daily Telegraph reports.
He said: "I don't know what Confucius would think of what I'm doing, but he used his thoughts and ideas to communicate with people, and now I'm using my music. It's just a different era."
The 20-year-old was born and brought up in Los Angeles. Unlike other rappers he doesn't refer to violence in his songs, which include Little Sister and Happy Everyday.
Chi says teachers in America used to think he was 'stupid' for telling them he was a descendent of Confucius, but people in Taiwan think it's 'cool', he says.
Confucius said: "Poetry rouses, courtesy upholds us, music is our crown."
It just appears that way, because not many others are posting yet.
