Some folks in Rome need to get senses of humour quickly. I thought this was going to be a satire when I saw the link on another thread, but apparently a guy who dresses up as a gladiator in Rome for tourist photos may go to jail for having a real sword.

I give up on animadversion. I right-clicked and left-clicked on the word and got no animations or any graphics at all. It doesn't work! I'm waiting for animad v2.1 to be released.

Oh! Uh....yes, I guess I owe him one. Except, I don't think it ended up being much of a putdown. He said "We'll take your suggestion." Turns out, he *has* been taking her suggestions.

I audited the film course at university in my junior year (1970 - 1971) when it was run by the man who was head of the National Film Board of Canada for many years, and whose name I can't remember now, natch. Anyhow, he had Chuck Jones in to speak to the class, and the biggest classroom at McGill was packed. Mr. Jones was an interesting speaker, but instead of cartoons, he mainly addressed the nasty business side of film. He went into considerable detail about how Warner Bros. had screwed him, but it wasn't really whiny, it was fascinating and eye-opening.

Finally found his name, the fellow giving the film course that year was John Grierson (1898 - 1972), not well known to the public but quite well known in the film business, a pioneer of documentary film who established the National Film Board of Canada. Died in 1972, I always wondered why he didn't give the film course the year after I audited.

xs, I don't carry a purse, but I recall a funny incident involving purse privacy: At a rehearsal dinner for a friend's wedding about 18 years ago, the couple singing a duet for the wedding had just finished practicing their number when their 4- or 5-year-old daughter pulled a tampon out of her mother's purse and held it up and asked loud enough to be heard by everyone in the room, "Mommy, what's this?" It was probably 5 minutes before the laughter died down enough for us to continue with the wedding rehearsal.

On the way out, the boys (who very man-like avoided joining me at the cosmetic counter) asked me WHY I was looking at lipstick ("Mom.. are you holding out on us.. do you have a .. 'date'"?) LOL..they said if I wore makeup, I wouldn't be their mom..
