I audited the film course at university in my junior year (1970 - 1971) when it was run by the man who was head of the National Film Board of Canada for many years, and whose name I can't remember now, natch. Anyhow, he had Chuck Jones in to speak to the class, and the biggest classroom at McGill was packed. Mr. Jones was an interesting speaker, but instead of cartoons, he mainly addressed the nasty business side of film. He went into considerable detail about how Warner Bros. had screwed him, but it wasn't really whiny, it was fascinating and eye-opening.

Finally found his name, the fellow giving the film course that year was John Grierson (1898 - 1972), not well known to the public but quite well known in the film business, a pioneer of documentary film who established the National Film Board of Canada. Died in 1972, I always wondered why he didn't give the film course the year after I audited.
