When Altman said that you dont need a computer, he's giving you the talking point of the global order. They may not ban computers outright, but it probably wont be long before you cant buy one or get parts to upgrade yours.
All that will be available is a 2026 version of the dummy work station, if anything at all.

I’ve built a many. Biggest problem now is finding an affordable GPU that’ll last about 10 years.
I’ve got a few older ones sitting around that I need to get working again.
I think, if you are thinking of doing another, I would build it and set it on a shelf if you dint need it yet. Itvisnt about yiur skill, but unless you are going to mine, smelt and solder everything yourself, you just may not have any parts to do it when you want it.
Sam Altman entire business model depends upon the shift from desktop and enterprise based computing systems to his cloud based systems
Any individual or company that sublets their computer systems to a cloud based system will get what they deserve
Take note: the globalists are the ones who will need to make major adjustments in their lifestyle.
United PC tech offers upgraded dell 7020’s and 7040’s with windows 11 and up to 1tbb HDD and like 516 ram, complete with new keyboard and mouse along with an older working monitor for 170 to 200 dollars delivered. I am using a 2016 optiplex 7040 from them and this is the best computer I have ever had as far as speed/graphics and all for 170 dollars DELIVERED I had a nice monitor and keyboard already so I stored the other items. You can’t buy a garbage base laptop for 170 dollars let alone have the multitude of ports both old style and new like this computer has. Amazon lists this company under refurbished computers.....I cant say enough good things about this as an option for a savvy consumer or a childs first computer...
I understand that. Thats why I suggest delaying what may be inevitable. If you have your own computer, you can remain independent. But if you dont be proactive on this, you’ll join the rest of thecworld on this.
If you hang in there for a while, I have seen that prices seem to be slowly dropping. At least that is the reporting I have seen.
Thats true, but they are trying to own the states.
Sam Altman can say whatever he wants. Forty years ago Larry Ellison described personal computers as ridiculous, and he was as a big a name then and still is a huge name now.
Yes, Microsoft’s Windows line along with Azrure has made the consumer the product, but personal computing does not have to go away. Gamers alone will not go to the cloud for their experience. You do not even need a GPU to be able to run AI/SI locally if you want to. A 32 GB RAM computer with a 1 TB NvME SSD and an Intel i7/Ryzen 7 or better can handle that fine.
If I had to put a modest AI capable system together right now I would opt for a Ryzen mobo with slots that could handle two GPUs and I’d put two Nvidia 5060 ti 16GB version cards on it for a total of 32GB.. these cards are at 800.00 ea just now.. u can do slightly cheaper using 16GB AMD cards but I’d opt for Nvidia to get CUDA.
And I’d put 64GB of system ram on it, 1000w power supply, 2tb SSD...
I think we have said goodby to the 5090 cards as China is harvesting them to build AI gear... glad I scored two of them before the recent jump to around 10,000USD
Im looking at the HP Omen serioes, about $4,000.
United PC. I shall look at it. I purchased an HP Elite 7900 Desktop PC Package refurbished from Amazon in February, 2020, and it still works great today and hardly ever gets turned off.
I read the other day that there are shops in China that are buying up all the RTX5090s the can find, retrofitting them with heftier cooling, and loading them into AI server farm racks. Which explains why we can’t get one even if we were willing to pay the exorbitant price.
Same here... bunch of older tech that I just couldn’t pitch. Some with bad caps, etc. Fortunately, I have the skills to solder with actual lead-based solder along with a bad-azz soldering station. Time and all that.
Missing HDDs.
One idea is to put a few on a small isolated network for a pentest lab.
A couple of others to run some vintage games.
Have most of the components for a water build.... got stuck on pipe sizing and then life’s other demands stated calling.
I regret that I didn’t build my last, lifetime Desktop 3 years ago when RAM and video cards were reasonably priced.
Hopefully, I’ll outlive this AI madness and still do a build one last time.
