Newly released data on the Harvard College class of 2030 say the class is 43.2 percent Asian-American, a record high and more than double the level when Students for Fair Admissions first sued Harvard alleging racial discrimination in admissions.
The U.S. Supreme Court ruled in 2023 that Harvard was unlawfully using race as a factor in admissions. Since then, the numbers of Hispanic and black students in the incoming Harvard classes have dipped, while the numbers of Asian-Americans have soared.
We visited MIT a couple of years ago—and the student body looked heavily Asian.
There were a lot of different types of Asian students though based on their appearance—it seemed like there were as many Indian students as Chinese.
My wife and daughter are Japanese ( daughter 1/2 ) . Daughter is a high school teacher in Kumamoto . One of her students was accepted not only to Harvard but also MIT . She chose MIT . This was 9 years ago . I wonder what she is doing now . I’ll have to ask Mika if she knows .
Whites men still gst to be discriminated against though.
Since I went to Harvard for grad school, I was exposed to both!
I don’t know if it is still true in the Ivys. Jews have fled them en masse.
It is true in the “New Ivys” (e.g., Vanderbilt, Rice).
They don’t track it directly, but you can back into it (roughly) because they’ll say “50% white, 40% Asian, 10% other” and then have a percentage of Jewish like “40% Jewish”.
You make the assumption that most Jewish kids are white (more or less true), and there you have it.
It was certainly my daughter’s experience. Basically all her white friends or acquaintances were Jewish.
