U.S. intelligence officials are warning that Iran has intensified efforts to assassinate Americans overseas, prompting the Trump administration to reduce diplomatic staffing across the Middle East amid escalating threats from Tehran and its terrorist proxies.
Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton issued an unclassified memo Friday to Secretary of State Marco Rubio, warning that Iranian assassination plots targeting U.S. citizens have reached dangerous levels.
“Lethal plotting efforts by the Iranians against U.S. citizens have reached advanced stages,” Clayton wrote.
Clayton said Tehran has significantly expanded operations targeting American personnel abroad and warned that the danger extends beyond individuals currently authorized to receive classified intelligence.
The warning follows deadly attacks by Iran-backed Houthi militants in Yemen, including strikes against Saudi Arabia’s King Khalid Airport earlier this month that reportedly killed at least 12 people, including an American, and injured hundreds.
In response, the State Department ordered additional personnel reductions at diplomatic facilities in Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Qatar, Jordan and the United Arab Emirates.
The U.S. Embassy in Saudi Arabia has been operating with emergency personnel following intensified Houthi missile attacks.
On Saturday, the State Department also updated travel advisories for more than a dozen Middle Eastern countries, citing growing threats from Iranian-backed militants.
President Donald Trump addressed the escalating confrontation during a Friday campaign rally in Florida, suggesting another military operation against Iran could be forthcoming if Tehran refuses to reach a peace agreement.
Trump referenced Operation Epic Fury, the U.S. military campaign launched against Iran in February, while signaling that Washington remains prepared to use military force.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi responded with warnings against further American military action, arguing that escalation around the Strait of Hormuz could endanger civilians and disrupt the global economy.

An Iranian nuclear detonation in the US is a possibility, I grant the war pigs that.
What I do not grant is the idea that Iran doing that would result in apocalyptic harm to the US. The apocalyptic harm would occur in Iran, not here, and it is very, very unlikely that the Twelfth Imam would crawl out of his well as a result.
SO unlikely, in fact, that the premise of an Iranian nuclear strike on the US can be safely discounted along with other fantastic beliefs like the Earth is flat.

I keep dwelling on the eternal question of will goodness ever overcoming evil. Part of it is knowing inside my soul that evil will always be with us in this realm, so I must keep forcing my mind to acknowledge this reality. Then there is the aspect regarding evil seemingly on the ascendancy, meaning that things are likely to get even more chaotic with the Master of Chaos driving the earthly crazy train. As I look to the midterm and view the riots in Europe, I shudder to think that this insane anarchy may be just a mid-term election away from America if the Commies/Islamist gain control or otherwise are able to interrupt Trump’s agenda. May God be with us all.
“Supposedly”? You don’t think he bombed anything? Just what would it take to convince you Iran has been and still is a problem? If we’ve completely lost then exactly what would victory look like to you?
Do you? I mean really. After last year’s bombing he said we had ended Iran’s nuclear program. Less than a year later we’re bombing again. Obviously we are dropping bombs, but are they bombing anything useful? Anything even vaguely related to a nuclear program? Anything other than just random buildings?
It would take somebody that doesn’t slurp Trump’s BS to present ACTUAL EVIDENCE. Physical evidence, documented evidence, something other than “intelligence sources”.

You’d prefer unintelligent sources? Already plenty of those. A religion of domination that tells it’s followers they’ll die if they leave but it’s okay to lie to those not in the cult should make an outstanding source of unintelligence.
Most of our “intelligence” sources are unintelligent. They mostly just feed what the boss wants to hear. Whether or not its true. The boss wants a war, they “see” a threat.
