Hillary Clinton thinks we should have 13 Supreme Court justices. Here’s why that matters.

Hillary Clinton may no longer be the most influential voice in the Democratic Party, but she remains a member in good standing of the party establishment. So when she expresses support for expanding the number of justices on the Supreme Court, it tells us that what was once a radical idea has gone mainstream.

“We should seriously look at expanding the court while the Democrats are in power,” Clinton said on a recent podcast. “You know, it used to be that you’d have one justice for each circuit. We now have 13 circuits, we should have 13 justices.”

Adding four justices to the court is just one of the potential reforms that have been suggested as a way of curbing the court’s abuses. Others include 18-year term limits for justices, ethics rules with actual teeth (no more billionaire-funded junkets for you, Justice Thomas) and limits on the court’s ability to strike down any law they don’t like.

The purpose of the Supreme Court is to decide the constitutionality of laws. It is also to sometimes decide the constitutionality of judicial and executive actions and decisions - albeit while also recognizing the importance of separation of powers in government. It is not to ‘represent’ the 13 circuit courts, you dumb witch.

You went to a marginal law school, irrespective of its name, and flunked the DC bar. Grow a conscience and perhaps mature enough to realize that you and your ambitions are minuscule in comparison to the totality of creation and humanity - which don't revolve around you and your oversized and totally unwarranted ego.

Also, don't for a second think that we don't recognize your desire to expand the court so that you might be gifted with a slot.

If her argument is that it's based on the number of circuit courts, that's a valid argument to explore, however the Democrats seem to like to "lock in" things that that don't make sense. I'd counter with the question as to why the Democrats locked Congress at 435 back in 1929?

If we'd pass Article the First, we'd have over 5,000 Representatives right now, but the Dems seemed to like the idea of limiting representation. Why shouldn't we limit the representation of the courts at well and keep it at 9?

Since the Constitution doesn't prescribe any number to SCOTUS, technically Congress could just pass a law, much like the Apportionment Act of 1929, locking SCOTUS at 9. No amendment required.

Instead, reduce the number of regions to nine.

Easily done now with all the lower appellate judges and districts. Each of the 9 SC jurist once was assigned to the 9 districts. With the addition of extra districts, their argument is its too much, but they have an immense amount of lower court assistance now.

The Democrats would use every legislative tactic possible to keep both bills from ever coming to a final vote unless they were certain they had the votes to fail the bill.

Don't try to use logic or hypocrisy to thwart the Democrats. When it comes to hypocrisy, they have neither the ethics nor the shame to make that strategy work.

…what I was thinking, too. What political party represents the majority of judges on those courts? I’ll bet it’s the democrat party.

Is it possible that she wants the circuit courts of appeals to be represented by, or influence, the United States Supreme Court, thereby taking that function away from the Senate? I know such a thing would be unconstitutional. Hillary and the rest of the democrats have never let the Constitution stop them before.

Hillary wants to pack the courts with liberals. With democrats it's always about 'advantage'.

Every change democrats have offered the last few decades has been to help themselves and their pet victim groups. Worse, they groomed their base using resentment, rage, and jealousy.

It's similar to how democrats brought in millions of illegals because they saw third world types as reliable future democrat voters (illegals would vote democrat for the first three generations). Democrats didn't care if over 60% of illegals went on welfare - or took jobs from Americans by working under the table while collecting benefits. NOPE. I think this is a BAD idea, but if the Democrats win the midterms, they WILL do this.

Neither Johnson nor Thune has the balls, but if the Dhimmicraps do win the midterms, there is an argument to be made for increasing it in the lame duck session, and I hve four candidates in mind. (I’m sure you can think of others.)

One is the brotyher of a senator, one is Cuban American (i.e., Latina), one is Chinese American, one is Indian American, and all would be ther eon merit and would make excellent justices.
