Former Vice President Kamala Harris called for institutional changes to the Supreme Court and the Electoral College during an interview Tuesday, calling for more justices on the highest court in the nation.
"The work that we can do about winning back the House and the Senate is going to be on a number of things. For example, I believe that we need to expand the Supreme Court. We need more justices on the Supreme Court so that we can have a court that actually reinforces the spirit and principles behind the Constitution of the United States," Harris told podcast host Keke Palmer on her "Baby, This is Keke Palmer" podcast.
"I believe that we should be pushing for what is possible around changing the Electoral College. Right?
"It's about, the popular vote has to matter, right? You know, all the things that make people feel, like, overwhelmed, and does their vote matter? We have, you know, listen, if the folks there want it, we should be pushing for statehood for Puerto Rico and D.C., right? These are some of the things that are structural that we need to do, but we need to reestablish affordable child care," Harris added.
Harris lost both the Electoral College and the popular vote to President Donald Trump in 2024. She told Palmer she still remains undecided about a 2028 presidential run.
Y. David Scharf, chairman of Morrison Cohen LLP and head of its government strategies & controversies practice, told Fox News Digital that Harris' proposed changes could set a "dangerous precedent."

And need to be treated as such starting right now.
And has yet to receive a single primary vote in her own party.
She is so stupid, she said the scary part out loud.
I say DC to Maryland, and Puerto Rico could be admitted, à la the Missouri Compromise, with the creation of an offsetting state in Northern NY, Southern IL, or Wisconsin, minus a barbell-shaped exception of Madison and Milwaukee connected by the median down I-94, or... I don’t know, Western TX?
> I believe the Constitution has something to say. <
The Founders messed up here. They should have set the number of Supreme Court justices in the Constitution. But they didn’t.
Instead they let Congress set the number. So a Democrat Congress and a Democrat president could set the number at justices at whatever number they want.
10, 15, 50. Any number would be constitutional.
Eastern Washington and Oregon. Northern California.
So I think it is really an interesting discussion about the Constitutionality of expanding the Court at this time.
If there is a legitimate reason for expansion like the growth of the country in the late 19th century than it is clearly Congress’ prerogative to determine the size of the court but if the only reason for the expansion is that the Democrats don’t like the Court’s rulings than I think there is a pretty sound Constitutional separation of powers basis for a legal challenge, in that the Congress is attempting to usurp the power of the judicial branch to interpret the law.
ok!
My opinion. folks talking about this.....trashing electoral college, expanding the supreme court etc is fine.
Start to do it and you are an enemy combatant.
She really is just so accustomed to speaking on generalities. I suppose at some point someone will get around to asking her to explain, for each of these, why it’s a good idea. I doubt we’d get the truth “So we can grab and permanently hold power,” so it’s be interesting to see what she’d come up with
“We know most Americans don’t support our policies, so we want to make them irrelevant.”
If you can’t win by lying, cheating, trying to kill people and succeeding at killing some, might as well do that to increase your voting power to FORCE everyone to be in subjection to you.
“Anything they try would have to be signed by Trump, and ....”
It won’t stop them. Their game plan for decades is to propose, get out of committee, pass, ...if it stalls or is vetoed after that ... no problem. Put on back shelf until a future date when conditions for passage is better.
Crazy talk.
Crazy talk.
More like the liquor talking.
IMO-—THE LARGEST LEVEL OF ‘IMPORTANCE” SHE EVER HAD WAS WHEN SHE WAS WILLIE BROWN’S SEX PARTNER
So the gas prices and affordability crises they are pretending to care about will bet set aside. The ONLY agenda item of the democrats is ensuring their power.
If the Supreme Court is expanded and packed and DC and Puerto Rico are granted statehood just to ensure democrats maintain control of government actually happens, I no longer recognize the government as legitimate and will act accordingly.
