Young teenagers are less likely to identify as lesbian, gay or bisexual than they were a few years ago, according to a new analysis of Centers for Disease Control and Prevention data.
The decline is particularly striking among ninth-grade girls, according to Jean Twenge, a professor of psychology at San Diego State University who published her analysis of the 2025 data on her Substack “Generation Tech.” In 2021, 30 percent of ninth-grade girls identified as lesbian or bisexual. Last year, 17 percent did.
“It really does look like a free fall,” Twenge said. “But what’s causing it is unclear.”
Twenge has been researching generational differences for decades. As part of that work, she regularly analyzes data from the CDC’s biennial Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance System.

Bingo!!! And just like tattoos, long hair in a band, pink hair, and hot pants, the defining factors are peer pressure and cultural acceptance.
USAID is now out of the picture and that helps.
Young people sense what is unacceptable, acceptable, preferred, and by whom. That sets the constraints. Within those constraints, they optimize. Optimizing includes being cool, and being attractive to the opposite sex.
What I would call reasoning, happens later, if at all.
Non Pay-Wall version out there?
Trump is ultimately responsible for this.
Maybe by playing “YMCA” at his rallies, he turned off liberals from being gay.
That captures the essence. Particulars will differ from individual to individual.
That’s a good point
But I have long held that about 98% of those who “identify” as queer are due to social and/or cultural pressures and trends.
They will soon switch to identifying as Muslims or some other socially acceptable trend.
They will soon switch to identifying as Muslims
I am starting to see this more and more, especially amongst white women.
Yes they need to stick to trendy toys play it safe.
Makes as much sense as changing one’s sex.
If the Dems regain power, these numbers will rise again.
GREAT! Don’t attack yourself on that dead end road. Celebrate your life and the greatest gift given to you, your ability to bring new life into this world.

this person is a complete bimbo eruption.
And so the pendulum starts to swing in the other direction... towards sanity, I hope.
Agreed.
Benjamin Franklin had a friend he described as “all sail and no anchor.” Maybe that describes socialist countries pretty well. Without an anchor, anything goes. Whatever “everyone” is doing goes. Perhaps around year three of the Harris administration, Michelle would come out in full glory as a transexual.
1. Most high school students are all for ‘live and let live’, but when 10 year olds (and younger) began being OPENLY recruited by the gays...they said “No Thanks!” and no longer want any association.
2. Likewise, girls are not to hot on being forced to shower with guys, getting slammed in the face during volleyball, or getting fingered by guys when they’re told they’re wrestling other girls.
For the girls, being pre-college-educated allowed them to think for themselves, and with the 2 items above, and likely many things that are not visible to us, they’ve had it.

Or perhaps the gay/lesbian lifestyle looks less attractive when it's accompanied by being killed: beheaded, thrown off a tall building, etc.
What was the percentage in early 2000 …
I remember back around 2005 the lesbian thing was a big fad among cheerleaders in Illinois schools. It spread from there.
I figure there was probably some popular TV show driving it then but since I gave up TV I didn’t know what it was. I suppose it could have been a social media thing but smart phones hadn’t really gotten going that much yet, so the culprit was likely a TV show.
Getting rid of DEI (substantially, at least) probably translates to drastically fewer opportunities to profit from being a freak.
It’s all fun and games until you have to bend over.
