'Antifa mob' smashes up Portland fine dining restaurant after staff served white supremacists for brunch

An upmarket restaurant in Portland has faced a violent backlash after seating a group of white supremacists.

Police were called twice to Clarklewis, an LGBTQ+-owned restaurant in the Central Eastside, on Sunday after protesters confronted the diners and restaurant staff.

The restaurant said its staff had no idea about the group’s alleged political affiliations when they arrived for a private brunch.(snip)

Rogers made clear that the restaurant does not support white nationalism and said staff would not knowingly host a group with those beliefs.

Rogers said one female employee quit on the spot after the confrontation, while other staff members left for the rest of the day.

The restaurant was subsequently closed for Sunday night’s dining service. A private wedding event for a former employee scheduled for later that evening was canceled.(snip)

Protesters were present outside but declined to give interviews. It was unclear whether those individuals had been involved in the earlier property damage.

Rogers said the business cannot realistically investigate the political beliefs of every customer who walks through its doors.

As a group they struck me as sharing a mission to preserve America more than anything. They should have researched more than the menu offering and spent their money elsewhere. The gay flags out front were a clue.

I am a retired pharmacist, and my wife is a retired software engineer. In a conservative central Texas city, Salado. I do not understand this insanity. We do not care who our customers are in our antique store. Most are straight and some gay. Oddly the gay males are the best customers as they appreciate our antique merchandise as do the straights. Our shop is just for fun as we are well off.

In my little village a white supremist would not be welcomed. I have never met one since my youth in South Louisiana in 1966 when I was one. I became educated and realized it was all a lie. Working overseas in many nations confirmed this.
