For the last few decades, the Iranians have stated they wanted us dead. Trump took them seriously. Not a joke. Iran’s actions, not their words, punctuated the content of the chants. Iran’s centrifuges announced their intention loud and clear.
Iran had plenty of opportunities to alter their path. They didn’t.
