U.S. President Donald Trump announced the United States, Denmark, and Greenland had reached an agreement giving the U.S. permanent rights over SECURITY matters on the island.
One of Trump’s first acts in his second term was to offer Denmark the chance to sell Greenland to America, an offer accompanied by a threat to take the island by force if necessary. Call it the opening bid—and it set the Euroweanies wild. Now, two years later, Trump has secured all of his goals.

Maybe having American bases in Greenland - and an agreement never to allow Russian or Chinese bases in Greenland WAS the goal all along. Our country is much safter because of this move. Thank YOU President Trump.
Reach for the stars, and reach the Moon, maybe a good strategy in other facets, but in politics it’s a bit dicey as a strategy.
He got neither.
What he got was agreement by Greenland and Denmark to expand our security presence there -- which was exactly what the pre-existing agreement permitted us to do. Denmark kept saying exactly that all along-- "we already have an agreement to discuss expanded security, so why don't they just ask for what they need?"
So now Trump gets the exact same thing he could have gotten all along, except we went through that whole embarassing charade of threatening invasion, etc.. It was utterly pointless.
The frustrating part about it was that he was absolutely right to want to expand our defense presence there to counter Chinese and Russian moves in the arctic, which was something Obama and Biden had basically ignored. He just went about it in completely the wrong way and needlessly ticked off not only some foreign allies, but some of his political allies here in the U.S..
It's like rather than just opening the damn door to get into the next room, he just repeatedly bashed his head against the wall trying to smash his way through. Then eventually, he gave up, opened the door, and just walked through like he should have all along.

Personally, I was frustrated and embarrassed by Trump shooting himself in the foot with the whole Greenland thing. Especially when he was correct on the strategic importance.
Hillary could not even find a proper Russian translator.
They are saying, that Putin still has her “Reset” button in his office and looks at it when he is depressed!
Hillary was the most pathetic SS ever!
The result is the thing.
Trump gets results where nobody else can.
It’s why he’s prexy and everyone else isn’t.

When you think about it, did we really WANT Greenland? Or just the protection we could get from OUR bases being there - and laws against Chinese and Russian etc. bases on Greenland?
Three dimensional chess or just old fashioned luck - it makes our country and the western hemisphere safer... that works for me. (that said I see your point...)
How long before a Judge nixes the deal?
Native Greenlanders have been treated horribly by the Danes. If it weren’t for the “orangeman bad” syndrome Greenland would be a US territory, if not a state.
The only issue I can see is Milei wants to get the Falklands back. But I would think Trump is on Milei’s side seeing how the UK has given itself up to turd world muzzie invaders. And with the UK stabbing the USA in the back every chance it gets bienvanidos las Malvinas.
As an aside. If you get a chance to visit, Argentina is a beautiful country.
