President Donald Trump posted on Wednesday afternoon, as he was widely expected to do, fuming about the Federal Reserve’s decision to raise interest rates.
“Interest Rates in the United States should be 1%, or less, because we are the Best Credit in the World — BY FAR. Our Country is BOOMING with new Investment!” wrote Trump on Truth Social, adding:
If we stopped Trading with every country that we have a Deficit with, which is most of them, we would make, at least, 1.5 Trillion Dollars a year. The word “Deficit” is nothing more than a fancy word for LOSS. We are “carrying” almost every country in the World, and that cannot go on any longer. LOWER THE INTEREST RATES FOR THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, AND FAST! President DONALD J. TRUMP
Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh, nominated this year by Trump, refused to discuss any conversation he had with Trump about the topic during a presser after the decision was announced. The rate hike is the first increase in over three years and was expected, as inflation has ticked up as a result of the war in Iran.
“What is your message here to President Trump?” ABC News’ Elizabeth Schulze asked Warsh during the presser.
“I’ve got nothing for you on the discussion with the president,” going on to emphasize that “the least well-off [Americans] have the most to gain from stable prices. The decision we made today was the right decision to deliver on the remit that Congress gave us to ensure stable prices,” he replied.
Earlier in the month, Trump wildly threatened to stop trading with certain countries if the Fed did not lower rates.
“A STRONG COUNTRY MEANS A LOWER INTEREST RATE – IT’S A BETTER CREDIT…Very simple! We should have the LOWEST RATE of any country in the World, like “the old days.” Without the United States agreeing to allow them their big surpluses, and we could stop that immediately, they would no longer be considered financially ELITE! LOWER THE RATE OR I’LL STOP TRADING WITH COUNTRIES WITH WHICH WE HAVE A DEFICIT, which the U.S. Supreme Court, in its ridiculous and very costly Tariff decision, strongly acknowledged “the President” has an absolute right to do. IT’S BETTER THAN TARIFFS! The Fed Board, with its great new leader, must get smart – BE PATRIOTS for a change. High interest rates put the U.S.A. at a very unfair disadvantage, and I won’t allow that to happen!” Trump wrote on September 4th.
High interest rates not only raise borrowing costs for Americans, but also continue to balloon the U.S. national debt, which surpassed $40 trillion in August, requiring a monthly $96 billion interest payment.
“It was under the aegis of the dollar supremacy, ie. the era of trade deficits, that the US has achieved its unparalleled status.”
It was under the aegis of manufacturing supremacy, not trade deficits.
What you idiots always fail to explain, or attempt to hide, is all the governments of the world were highly tariffing American products to prevent their own trade deficits.
If trade deficits were so grand, why do all the nations seek to prevent it in their own economies?
That has been President Trump’s strategy since 2025:
The only way to forgo trade with other countries is to militarily or economically annect or subjugate countries which have ressources or assets we need.
Forcing Mexico to pay for the border wall.
Getting Venezuela’s oil for pennies on the dollar.
Rare minerals from Greenland.
Oil and rare minerals from Canada.
Using the Panama canal for free.
Oil from Iran (in the works).
Stephen Miller is spot on: If you can’t defend it, it’s ours.
That’s what PDJT and MAGA stands for!
Pathetic, I guess they need more than the 400 PhD’s that they have—and that doesn’t even include the ones they have in the Board of Governors and the 12 regional Federal Reserve Banks (which would make the number almost 1,000).
Forget the midterms they are trying to crash the economy right before the next presidential election.
Its a two for one deal. And without congress backing you up they will get their way and the Deep State will chug along like normal.
But for what they plan and what actually happens aren’t always the same.
Trump’s tantrums make him look silly.
The independent fed. F’g Americans on a daily basis. Just like our oil companies! Supposedly we have more oil than any nation on earth and during our times of hardship and war they are prostitutes to the rest of the world.
I can’t wait until there is an adult in the White House. Trump’s old man yelling at the cloud is tiresome. His actions have damaged this country. This country needs someone who is sane to run it.
No one cares what you think.
“Trump’s posts only make him look weak “
BUT WHAT ABOUT ALL THOSE ALL-CAPS? Doesn’t that mean he’s SUPER duper SERIOUS!? /s
It’s like reading an 8th grader’s posts.
1. The Fed shouldn’t exist. 2. The Fed plays politics and tries to influence elections. 3. Trump wants to increase gov’t revenue by growing the businesses and people who pay it. They like low interest rates to invest, re-tool, expand.
The establishment GOP just wants to manage the decline.
You seriously call it a war? LOL
agreed.
"Never confuse education with intelligence; you can have a PhD and still be an idiot."
Richard Feynman
Let's test that by spending a few trillion more in deficit spending. /s
Independent? HA.
Just to you.
Warsh is going the right thing.
You seriously call it a war?
- - - - - - -
Didn’t it have a war like effect on oil prices?
Agreed, but he should have been a little more aggressive, and raised by .50%—as there are many more hikes to come.
The deck has been dealt. Trump has his hand it at the moment and its a losing hand.
He needs to discard a couple of cards and pull from the deck.
Drop Ukraine and cut a deal with Putin to settle down the oil situation and lower prices.
Putin has pull with the Iranians, allow the Russians to take out the nuclear material handing some to us to test for the source.
End the sanctions on the Russians and open up markets.
We did it in WW2 sometimes you have to cut deals with those you would rather not if you want to win the larger contest.
