Once again, Florida leads the way in conservative government.
Apparently, "fascists" down in Florida don't want taxpayers to be purchasing the neck tattoos and Disney World tickets for people who are on welfare.
The takeaway here is that the other 49 states ARE paying for the tattoos and video games for welfare recipients.
This is a real thing that goes on everywhere in the United States.
Except Florida.
From Fox News:
Florida is the first state to impose sweeping new limits on how welfare cash can be spent, blocking recipients from using cash-assistance benefits loaded onto EBT cards for purchases like tattoos, theme park tickets, video games, vaping products and other items not generally considered 'basic needs' under a plan the Trump administration is urging other states to emulate.
Florida's cash-assistance program, known as Temporary Cash Assistance (TCA), is funded through the federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program. It is separate from SNAP, the food-assistance program, though families may receive both types of benefits through separate balances on the same EBT card.
The Department of Health and Human Services' Administration for Children and Families (ACF) determined Florida's updated TANF plan to be complete Thursday in a letter sent to Gov. Ron DeSantis and obtained by Fox News Digital. The letter praised the Sunshine State governor for putting 'common-sense restrictions' on what it calls inappropriate, luxury and non-essential purchases.
So, if you're on EBT, we not only have to pay for your Kool-Aid pineapples, because you need to eat, after all, but we also just give you free money with no strings attached that you can use almost anywhere for any reason? Tattoos? Vapes? Grand Theft Auto?
The governor's press release announcing the change also cites 'Psychic and fortune-telling services' among those purchases that will be prohibited.

Many of you have already expressed disgust with the fact that this was not only ever allowed but apparently in many States it still is common.
I quite agree. Wish this forum had a “like” function!
This us one way to find out what you are “owed” in any state.
https://benefitsusa.org/en/benefits-eligibility-chart
Here, a family of 4, with a veteran head of household, partially disabled, going to school for something could qualify for $104,000 in various benefits. Sounds like a lot but many are veterans assistance related.
The biggest problem with the system is it is meant for handouts and not a helping hand up.
It is a shame there are poor in such a prosperous nation. It is also a shame and stupid people keep breeding to have children that they can’t support and that will only know a continuing life of poverty for working people to support.
JUST STOP HAVING CHILDREN YOU CAN’T TAKE CARE OF!!!!! it has to be a sin or at least a crime.
.
Amazing that EVERY state does not enact the same ban.
If psychics were real and not fake, the newspaper headlines everyday would read; “Psychic wins lottery AGAIN!”
I never took those vaxes. Nobody in my family that resides near me took them either.
We were very skeptical from the start. I took some crap from neighbors and such, but never keeled over on it. I am now so glad I held firm on no.
Now, I don’t want any of their poison vaxes.
Last year Governor DeSantis signed into law legislation to close all the loopholes that these parasite squatters use to trespass and live in other people’s homes.
Squatting is all but a thing of the past here now.
As far as I know, other states have had little interest in following that model.....which tells me just like this outrage, they aren’t interested in helping law abiding taxpayers.
Same here. We knew something wasn’t right about covid shots early on.
I give the glory to God for giving us the wisdom see through what turned out to be what I can only describe as evil.
Lib across the street used to enter 5k and 10k runs on a regular basis. After biden told him to get a shot and then a booster he now has irrevocable heart conditions.....his running days are over.
I find it impossible to believe it wasn’t due to the shots.
Are strip clubs still okay? How about hookers?
Ahhh, c’mon guys have a heart
Point taken!
I think some states do specify such, but when i asked Google Gemini.ai,
“can EBT cards be used for tattoos and video games,” it said “No, can EBT cards be used for tattoos and video games.”
But when I asked “ in which states can EBT cards be used for tattoos and video games,” it reported, “Most U.S. states do not explicitly ban or track item-level purchases like tattoos and video games on the cash-assistance (TANF) portion of EBT cards, meaning many states historically lacked strict item prohibitions rather than explicitly “allowing” them.”
They also need to ban cigarettes, hair weaves and manicures.
