Florida becomes first state to ban welfare for tattoos, video games, theme parks, other "non-essential" goods

Once again, Florida leads the way in conservative government.

Apparently, "fascists" down in Florida don't want taxpayers to be purchasing the neck tattoos and Disney World tickets for people who are on welfare.

The takeaway here is that the other 49 states ARE paying for the tattoos and video games for welfare recipients.

This is a real thing that goes on everywhere in the United States.

Except Florida.

From Fox News:

Florida is the first state to impose sweeping new limits on how welfare cash can be spent, blocking recipients from using cash-assistance benefits loaded onto EBT cards for purchases like tattoos, theme park tickets, video games, vaping products and other items not generally considered 'basic needs' under a plan the Trump administration is urging other states to emulate.

Florida's cash-assistance program, known as Temporary Cash Assistance (TCA), is funded through the federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program. It is separate from SNAP, the food-assistance program, though families may receive both types of benefits through separate balances on the same EBT card.

The Department of Health and Human Services' Administration for Children and Families (ACF) determined Florida's updated TANF plan to be complete Thursday in a letter sent to Gov. Ron DeSantis and obtained by Fox News Digital. The letter praised the Sunshine State governor for putting 'common-sense restrictions' on what it calls inappropriate, luxury and non-essential purchases.

So, if you're on EBT, we not only have to pay for your Kool-Aid pineapples, because you need to eat, after all, but we also just give you free money with no strings attached that you can use almost anywhere for any reason? Tattoos? Vapes? Grand Theft Auto?

The governor's press release announcing the change also cites 'Psychic and fortune-telling services' among those purchases that will be prohibited.

The kids can eat knock-off Kraft mac&cheese three times a day so I can get another tattoo.

American parenting at its best.

How long can people stay on these ‘temporary’ programs?

Way back in the 1990s, there was a guy in Caldwell, ID who owned a billboard and put up any message he thought necessary. One of them was "Welfare was supposed to be a temporary safety net, not a multi-generational hammock."

Walk into a Social Security Center in Florida and the first thing you see is lots of young men in their late twenties signing up for 'Disability"

Young men outnumber old people two to one in Social Security Office waiting rooms in Florida's larger cities... These young men plan on collecting SS Disability for the next 60 to 70 years. And they do. DeSantis and Trump need to look into this mess next - because the corrupt 'press' won't

That this was even allowed in the first place is what’s disturbing.

And that's just the tip of the iceberg. I want my money back!

It is a Demoncrat PLAN. They work to get any and all dependent on these programs, approve everyone. This is the segue to Communism and then one-world government.

It shocks me how young able adults are now “disabled” and receiving outrageous monetary benefits. On vacation at the beach, I asked a young woman with a dog and a car how she could afford rent there. She said she got disability and that was enough for $1700 rent plus expenses. If she can drive and swim and care for a pet, how is this person too disabled to work? Don’t even get me started on the $4000 per month “disability” payment to the alcoholic b**** who has been drunk since high school - one year in the military at age 25, she filed a claim that her alcoholism is “their fault” and now WE pay and pay and pay.

It is a PLAN. You, protaganist of Atlas Shrugged, are the fool for having good character and not signing up for freebie ride.

Things that should have never been allowed using pubic money in the first damned place.

Entire fraudulent, scam system needs to be overhauled.

“Two major U.S. investigations revealed welfare funds being withdrawn or spent on cruise ships, primarily via EBT cash access at onboard ATMs...$16,010 was withdrawn from 14 cruise ships sailing from ports including Miami, Long Beach, Rio de Janeiro, and Beijing.”

“All welfare people should receive is 3 MRE’s per day per person. That’s it.”

Exactly! Bears repeating. I’ve often thought of this as a solution.

Florida's cash-assistance program, known as Temporary Cash Assistance (TCA), is funded through the federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program.

And, as usual, you can see that "temporary" does not mean "temporary" as generation after generation collects "cash wefare" and every other form.

I'd say make 'em get out and clean up the roadways, parks, neighborhoods. Also fit them with mandatory birth control if they collect any form of welfare.

I remember those days as a kid when sales people from encyclopedia companies would go door to door making sales. My parents bought Americana encyclopedias.

We had World Book Encyclopedia’s when I was a kid.

Sure enough my dad bought ‘em from a door to door salesman.

Taught me many things.....including how to read better.

I remember World Book. I will also guess that the info in those books was not as tainted as they would be today.

I saw a post on X yesterday where some young guy posted a pick of the space shuttle riding atop the airplane that was used to move it back to base. He was joking it was AI.

The guy had to be told that it wasn’t AI slop, but that was actually very real. Obviously, we have to wonder if they learn much of anything from the past in schools now.

I agree completely.

Does anybody actually know all The grifter benefits available and the actual value of each of them?

We normal, working, taxpayers would like to know.

“we have to wonder if they learn much of anything from the past in schools now”

I never would have believed it until I saw what Americans were willing to do during covid just because they were told to without challenging it at all.

Apparently this country is now full of mindless mouth breathers that can’t think for themselves.
