Jerry Sandusky is due to return to court next month as one of his accusers is expected to recant his testimony against the former Penn State assistant football coach who was convicted of sexually abusing boys for more than a decade, according to an affidavit.
A judge scheduled an evidentiary hearing for Sept. 8 in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania.
Sandusky, who is now 82, has been serving a decades-long prison sentence after he was convicted in 2012 of abusing boys.
An accuser known as Victim 10, who testified for the prosecution at Sandusky's trial, is now prepared to tell the court Sandusky did not abuse him.
Victim 10 alleges prosecutors coached him in order to steer his testimony and asked him to revisit and reframe his allegations, writing in a sworn affidavit provided to the defense that "[t]hroughout the pretrial process, I was told -- both directly and indirectly -- that trauma may have fragmented my memory, and that I could safely affirm details I did not fully recall. I was assured this was common and even expected." The Pennsylvania Attorney General's office is expected to address the allegation at September's hearing.

My husband went to Penn State and had the same opinion of Paterno as you do.
One can never be sure. But I put Joe Paterno in the same category as Pope John Paul II.
Both were good and honorable men. And (evidently) there was abuse going on in both their organizations.
But the abuse was beyond what either man was capable of fully grasping. They were old-school, from back when no one even considered such things.
That’s my take, anyway.

This is a very comprehensive, detailed article on the problems with this case.
It includes statements by the prime victim that Sodom never happened.
Totally agree on both men.
Please read.

Woody Hayes taught an American History class at Ohio State, and he was as passionate about it, as he was with football.
“Keep in mind, under the doctrine of severability, the conviction and resultant sentence s regarding the other 9 victims will generally be unaffected.”
Unless the same high pressure techniques were used with all victims.
I don’t think it applies in this case as the 48 counts were all related.
“The severability doctrine allows a court to remove only the unconstitutional parts of a statute or contract rather than declaring the entire text invalid.”
I know it applies to civil cases, but not sure about criminal cases.
Because there were many others!
Supposedly nine, in public. But it is going to take many years, more than Saduski has left in his life, to get everyone to recant to release him. And how many times can a life sentence be revoked on one lost testimory? This is to try to get the now caught liar witness a chance to get by perjury. The sttge’spaying for this. More money down the toilet for no reason.

It won't help Coach Paterno, his reputation was already unfairly distroyed
I saw him in the halls of the ROTC building there. Stopped me cold. When he realized that I recognized him, he got that twinkle in his eye that he used to get when telling jokes in a speech.
Correct. The whole case was a real cluster.
As an aside, I appeared before and went out socially with a judge who was involved in the Sandusky matter. Somewhere, I may still have his letter of recommendation.
Same here. The Grand Jury Judge for this case was a friend of mine for many years.
I was a Michigan fan during “The Ten-Year War”, so back then I hated Woody. But now, I respect him a lot.
So he lost his temper a little bit in that Clemson game.
And I will always remember how classy Ohio State honored Bo, when he passed away.
Weren’t Bo and Woody colleagues/boss-employee at one time?
I quit following college ball after a UM missed a winning field goal at An OSU/UM match and later committed suicide.
Woody at one time used to go over and visit his men in Nam with steaks. Really inspirational, that, and he never mentioned it.
Thanks, I knew there were some cases like that out there, didn’t have specifics. I think there were additional others.
*forgot to use the word kicker in there.

Are you referring to Mike Lantry?

That game was the first time I ever cursed in front of my Dad.
