Veteran actor Jeff Bridges has seen enough of Hollywood’s enthusiastic embrace of artificial intelligence (AI) to know it’s hastening the demise of people like him in an industry that has delivered so much to so many through pure human endeavor.
But all is not lost for the son of Lloyd and brother of Beau.
He used an interview to outline that if you can’t beat it, enjoy it, as he charted AI’s development since he first came across it as a video game character in the classic Tron back in 2010.
If all else fails he can simply monetize his own image and on-screen likeness.
Bridges is far from alone in his bleak assessment of the future role of human actors in Hollywood.
As Breitbart News reported, Oscar-nominated actor James Woods warned last December AI is not a short-lived craze, but a technology that could mean the “end of human actors” in Hollywood.
“AI is the end of human actors. I’m adamant about this,” Woods told Fox News’ Brian Kilmeade in a Sunday interview, repeating similar fears from fellow actors.

When it comes to actors, thei face and their ability to precisely modulate expressions is right at the core of their livlihood. And the studios want to steal it and use it in perpetuity for free. I’m in favor of passing whatever legislation is required to prevent this.
Again remembering that what can be done to actors can be done to us.
I don’t care whether they do or not. All movies are make believe.
People said the same thing once about cartoon movies until Disney made Snow White.
For my TV programs and movies, I mostly watch 60s and older anyway.
The most recent network offering I watched was 24.
The Tron of 2010 was not a classic.
Correct. It is encouraging to see so many blurred faces on TV news these days for that very reason.
With uninteresting poorly written plots then old time cartoons!

I'm not sure, however AI has yet to capture the critical element of "charisma". On it's worst day, though, it will occupy a place on the spectrum between comic books and movies, and I believe that will probably make a buck or two.
I think he’s right.
Computers will take over acting.
Soon you’ll be pushing up daisies, pal. I have always enjoyed your films and don’t wish bad for you - but I am more than disgusted by your politics.
I always thought they should have put in the contract for that movie that all of the CGI and un-CGI-ed elements would be preserved so they could re-render the CGI-ed Arnold parts with better technology in 10-20 years so it was more realistic and allowed you to better suspend reality.
But where’s the buck in that?
