Back in early 1960’s, I have seen tons of store signs in Spanish in Hispanic neighborhoods. In 1970’s, I have seen a major street in North Chicago full of India stores and restaurants with signs in Hindi. In western Chicago burbs there were enclaves of Eastern European populations and signs in various languages.

This is nothing new. Stores accommodate their clients.

When 9/11 happened I doubt that most conservative voters thought that this and the foot baths at airports for the taxi drivers, Muslims at the highest level of our FBI and security agencies, and Muslim congressmen, and a Muslim President with two Muslim fathers, Islam taught in our schools, crosses taken out of solitude rooms and Islamic prayer rooms added to buildings and churches being remodeled into Mosques and city streets blocked with Muslim prayer crowds and the sounds of the call to Muslim prayer and Arabic at Home Depot, would be the result of it.

I’m in Michigan, there’s also areas with densely populated areas of South Korean’s. There’s a strip of stores that sell traditional Korean foods (groceries, restaurants, ...). All the items are marked in both Korean and English.

I believe the law requires storefronts to have English as the larger title, even if they have a smaller title in another language.

This isn’t new. Dearborn is still becoming a problem though. Islam is just like cancer.

“Stores accommodate their clients.”

Good catch. This article is a whole lot of nothing as it is not unusual to use language most prevelent in the area. This is why many states even have driving license tests in a few languages and in some interpreters are legal to translate. Fact is, the second most used language in the US is Spanish and the third Chinese. Why not cater to what’s there? I think you call it capitalism.

And you're still young enough to live to see the day when you'll have to press "7" for English.

“Islam is just like cancer”
.
A video of the history of the (Saudi) Arabian peninsula detailed the clustered villages there were mostly Christian and Jewish.

Some tribes were nomadic.

At least there are cures for cancer...

I’ll check the Constitution for issues regarding “mosque and state.”

Ive been in stores where the NONE of the employees knew English. (Indiantown, Florida and the Florida Keys).

Miami, of course, can’t be described as “fully assimilated”.

When I first moved to Pocatello in 2000, the stores had dual labeling in French and English. The current labeling is Spanish and English reflecting demographic shifts. The French I saw in 2000 was a long standing historic tie to the French fur trappers.

Before I headed home to Pocatello in 2014, I noted that long stretches of streets in El Cajon, CA had signage in Arabic. It is principally Chaldean Christians that immigrated from Iraq following the fall of Saddam Hussein. There is a substantial muslim community in Clairemont near the Balboa/I-805 exchange. In spite of that, there isn't nearly the volume of Arabic signage in that area.
