Your link is from July 2024. It is reporting on the appointment of Gen. Jennie Carignan, as “the first female Chief of Defence Staff in Canadian history.” She is the one with shorter hair.
The other female in the photo is Mary Simon, who was at the time the Governor General and Commander in Chief of the Canadian Armed Forces. As of June 2026, she is no longer in that position. But they got a twofer with her — first female and first Inuit. And, of course, those check marks in the “first” boxes are far more important than a country’s military readiness.
And, just to make sure the incompetence continues, Simon was replaced by yet another female. 🙄
