Nepal’s devastating flood has now claimed 586 lives, with 977 people still missing. Rescue operations were suspended Friday as an upstream barrier lake began overflowing, forcing crews on both sides of the border to pull back.
USGS has also confirmed there was no earthquake—the seismic signal came from the collapse itself. Bodies have been recovered more than 150 kilometers downstream.
