The “Car Tunes” tour at the Savoy Automobile Museum took place from January thru May 2026. This video tour of vintage cars was originally televised in installments on Fox5, Atlanta. American passenger cars, sports cars and stock cars for drag racing 1903 – 1965 are featured.
The Savoy, a fairly new museum in the central Georgia countryside north of Atlanta, is yet another good place for a car nut or a family to celebrate the USA's 250th anniversary! America's car culture helped define our country, especially since the 1950s, and changed the entire world, too.

In this video, the Savoy's Curatorial Researcher explains not only how several beautifully restored vintage cars (from 1903 – 1965) were manufactured and marketed, but also how the pop songs came about that were inspired by these car models, by such recording artists as Ike Turner, the Beach Boys and more.
The Savoy Automobile Museum rotates its vast collection of American cars every month, so it's not even possible to see all the cars that they have in one visit. At least one FReeper that I know of is a tour guide there, and besides the displays and tours, the Savoy has a restaurant, a gift shop, and many special events, like outdoor car shows.

The Savoy is fantastic! It is nearby and I have been several times. The volunteers love to talk about the cars on display. They have concourse level cars you just don’t see anywhere else. Also some classic race cars that make you wonder what people were thinking. I highly recommend it.
I'd love to know how they do that! Plus, the ragtops and interiors are spotless, even though many of them are original.

It's in the original Auburn headquarters and the architecture is Art Deco on steroids.
Thanks to Albion Wilde for putting this Savoy thread together! It opened in December, 2021 but has already received acclaim from other 1st class car museums around the nation.
As Albion Wilde noted, what makes this museum so special (and crazy, for the volunteers, at least) is that one gallery changes every month, so it does not remain static but is in a constant flow of “new” exhibits. For example, this is the final weekend for “Wood You Believe It” the Woodies display. On Monday the staff will roll in a selection of significant cars from the Historic National Registry.
Haven’t even mentioned the absolute state-of-the-art presentation theater where movies are shown once a month and live, in-person monthly “Tireside Chats” usually hosted by Ken Gross and/or Wayne Carini.

Two museums in one -
1) Military Aircraft and vehicles.
2) All kinds of cars, race cars, a 1953 Corvette with only 8 miles on it, old hotrods, Indy racer, etc.
It seems the ticket was good for 2 days - it would take that long for a good look.

Such a spotless place, even the floors. You don’t think of that with cars, parking spots, repair shops, your garage, etc.
Never been to Savoy, but the car museum in Tallahassee is awesome. Lots of old and vintage cars, plus bunches of other collectibles (model trains, Matchbox cars, slot cars, Barbie dolls, etc.) I had a blast, wife kept looking at her watch.
We finally went for the first time in May, the place is about 45 minutes from where I live now. The Savoy is seriously awesome, extremely nice facility and collection. And that’s NW Georgia, I don’t know where they got “central Georgia”.

Well this is very interesting. I live 30 minutes from Cartersville, GA and have now planned for my sons to come visit and we’ll all go. Didn’t even know it existed.
