A pack of coyotes have moved into an abandoned West Hollywood condo complex, forcing locals to live in fear while demanding the city steps in.
The complex at Romaine Street and North Spaulding Avenue. which has been under construction and empty for years, was first taken over by homeless squatters that have now been replaced by the wild animals.
“It’s kind of interesting to walk out of your apartment and look up and there’s a coyote looking at you,” Cindy Sorley told CBS LA.
Shocking videos and pictures appear to show six coyotes roaming the empty building, with each one taking up a different room. There’s also videos capturing daily and nightly howling/barking of the pack.

I live in coyote territory - my city stopped dealing with them a few years ago - they used to have a catch and release program, moving them far back into the hills. No longer.
Coyotes roam the streets at night, and can jump a nine-foot fence. Some of my neighbors have lost dogs and cats, including in six-foot, fenced-in yards. There is a good business around here installing coyote rollers along the tops of fences.
My littlest dog is not allowed in the yard without one of us - at any time of the day, and I have a fenced in yard - high fences- front and back.
And, I recently found out it is legal to kill coyotes on your property - I have neighbors who I am sure would do this.
“It is generally legal to kill coyotes on your property in California, as they are classified as non-game mammals with no special protections. You may hunt them year-round without a bag limit or permit, provided you hold a valid California hunting license.”
We see coyotes all the time here in AZ.
A big nothing unless you hit one with a car.
Javellana are much bigger problem as they mess up yards.
Even tiny yap dogs have come snapping at my heels, even as I kick them away. They're fearless, like all dogs, because they're used to people.
By contrast, coyotes steer clear of me. Yes, I often see them on the streets of L.A. at night. I once saw a pack of four coyotes crossing the street ahead of me, looking nervously at me as they scurried quickly away.
Coyotes are wary of humans. Until some stupid humans start feeding them so they lose their fear.
Finally, a solution to the homeless problem...

A local ‘yote and I used to watch the prairie dog village. About 15 yards apart from each other. Always a poster about missing cats or dogs on the telephone poles. Then a subdivision was built over the village.

Like many folks, we live with coyotes.
It’s not that hard. Better keep your small critters inside.
I vary between .30-.30 model 94, 5.56 M4 platform .22 mag when close around structures, and .300 WinMag when I want to reach out.
Rimfire cartridges are illegal for coyote hunting here.
Not so much hunting as too close to the house and barns.

Even so. It's legal to shoot a coyote in California any time and anywhere, even in a County "no shoot zone" if it is a threat to livestock, but not with a rimfire cartridge. At least that's what DFW instructed me when I got a depredation permit for pigs.
That’s one way to get rid of the bums.

I’ve chased away a lone coyote numerous times but a pack can take down a horse. So yes,they can be a threat to humans.
