I lived with them in close proximity for 2/3 my life and never had an issue with any human attacks or threats except during calving season which was used to thin them out ;)

I'm at half. A Mini-14 in 300 Blackout works just fine.

I vary between .30-.30 model 94, 5.56 M4 platform .22 mag when close around structures, and .300 WinMag when I want to reach out.
