A California family’s Hawaiian getaway turned to horror when its members were targeted as “haole boys” and viciously beaten by a mob at a luxury Maui resort, leaving one with a huge head wound.
The violent brawl broke out around 10 p.m. on July 17 at the Kaanapali Alii resort in West Maui, where local officers responded to a disturbance involving roughly 30 people near the property’s pool.
Seven visitors from California, ranging in age from 17 to 62, told police they were assaulted after a group of young people allegedly threw chairs and attacked members of their family.
At least six victims suffered injuries serious enough to require medical treatment.
By the time officers arrived, only 10 to 15 people remained at the scene, several with visible injuries, according to the Maui Police Department.
The family, who has not been named, believes they were singled out because they are white and is urging investigators to pursue the case as a hate crime.
Police have not classified the assault as a hate crime.
Family member Joseph Headfield said the violence was preceded by racial threats from a woman he described as the group’s ringleader.
“There were three females, one of which was the ringleader,” Headfield told Hawaii News Now. “She got up in people’s faces, said, ‘We’re going to beat up your boys tonight. We’re going to beat up the haole boys.'”
“Haole” is a Hawaiian term for a person who is not of Native Hawaiian or Polynesian descent and is commonly used to describe white people or non-locals.

Indeed, Tom Lehrer had so many great songs. When I was a teenager I had a vinyl copy of "That Was The Year That Was", his own renditions of the songs he wrote for the American version of the TV show "That Was The Week That Was" for which he was a writer. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/That_Was_the_Year_That_Was

When he died last year at age 97 I purchased the 3-CD+booklet set "Remains" and enjoyed all the various arrangements and renditions, including some with orchestra as well as the classics with just him on piano.

I’m all for it. If the state petitions for independence...let them go. The Dems will lose two senators and a couple of democratic congess members. That wouldn’t bother me at all. With a loss of all those voters it might trigger a nation wide reapportionment and do we keep the same amount of congressman while sticking with 2 senators per state?

Please note!!! Halle means white pig in Hawaiian. Kind of like the n word but freely used by Hawaiians. Went to HS in Hawaii in the 70s. Was very bad then too. Local go ernment allows it as long as it does not affect their bottom line—tourism dollars.
Somehow I've missed North Dakota, Minnesota, and Alaska, but I plan to visit all three as soon as I can.
