They’re just making sure Fox doesn’t get sued. Because the courts have different standards to prove defamation when it’s a liberal suing than when it’s a conservative. The E Jean Carroll case taught us all that.
Specifically, when a “public figure” sues for defamation they are supposed to have to prove 1) that the claim was false 2) that the person saying it knew it was false and 3) that the false claim had actual monetary damages to the plaintiff as a result.
If it’s a liberal suing all those requirements go away, as with E Jean CArroll.
