In this interview with Zanny Minton Beddoes of The Economist, Elon Musk discusses the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence and its implications for the future. Here are the key takeaways:
Timeline for AI Superintelligence: Musk predicts that AI will exceed the sum of human intelligence in roughly five years (0:00 - 0:19).
The Future of Human Control: He expresses doubt that humans will remain in control in ten years, comparing the potential intelligence gap between AI and humans to the gap between humans and chimpanzees (1:07 - 1:38).
Age of Abundance: Despite the risks, Musk maintains an optimistic view, describing the potential for an "age of amazing abundance" where people can access almost anything they desire (0:22 - 1:06).
Risk Management: While acknowledging a non-zero risk of catastrophic outcomes (which he previously estimated at 10-20%), he argues that the momentum of AI is inexorable and that we should focus on minimizing these risks while enjoying the progress (1:53 - 4:38).
Regulatory Proposal: Musk proposes a system where competing AI labs conduct peer reviews of each other’s frontier models for a week or two before release. He believes this competitive pressure would incentivize companies to keep each other honest regarding safety and security, serving as a signal for when government intervention is truly necessary (5:34 - 8:51).
Industry Cooperation: Musk addresses his personal history with OpenAI and Sam Altman, noting that despite personal grievances and competition, he believes AI leaders should establish regular communication to address shared safety concerns for the good of the world (8:52 - 10:36).

So the surveillance state will be fully automated ay?
Good thing we have so many tattoo parlors. People will be able to avoid lines getting their “666” marks.
With all the climate change nonsense they’ve fed AI it will probably want to kill us all off to save the planet.
I like Elon but his lack of experience in the blue collar world really limits his understanding of many things.
Elon did work blue collar jobs for year to earn money when he came to Canada. He turned 18 during this period. They were mostly temporary jobs from the unemployment office.
Is AI going to manage $50,000,000,000,000 in debt this country has at the end of the decade or just whistle past the graveyard?
Doubling the GDP would easily do the job, if spending is not increased at the same pace.
“Notably Mr. Musk doesn’t say how we will acquire such homes . . . .”
The AI creates even smarter AI, the robots build even better robots, over and over, real fast like, they come up with all kinds of ways to build better homes that we’ve ever had out of all sorts of things and the little robots fly around and build them in about 20 minutes.
A whole lot of people are going to readily buy into this “all knowing, all powerful”, god that gives them free stuff. Most people are like feral cats, they want food, sex and a place out of the rain. Add some entertainment to it and most will be comfortably numb and content. We have been groomed for it by the welfare state, the entertainment culture and the self-esteem movement. “They owe it to me” will be their rationalization for giving up their humanity. It’s more demonic utopian blather. Boredom and meaninglessness will up end the utopian dream which will be replaced by the brute force of tyranny.
Mat 24:22 And if those days had not been cut short, no human being would be saved. But for the sake of the elect those days will be cut short.
In 10 years, Yellowstone may blow, what’s AI going to do about it?
>> But God still will be [in control].
^^^^^^^^^^ THIS ^^^^^^^^^^
>> In Heaven. Jesus stated, “My Kingdom is not of this world”. What do you suppose that means?
Jesus taught His disciples to pray like this to the Heavenly Father:
“...Thy Kingdom COME! Thy will be done ON EARTH, AS IT IS IN HEAVEN”. (CAPS emphasis mine, of course).
What do you suppose THAT means?
Musk has been smoking blunts again ...
I’m holding out for the giant meteor in 2036!
I think the age of abundance will be the end of human8ty..we have shown absolutely no self control.
AI will lead to massive automation in what today is human decision making.
You will see it in war (Command and Control, guidance systems, Intel), health care, banking, even if we don’t call it that a social credit score, transportation, law enforcement, entertainment, education... everywhere.
AI is still in its infancy and it’s not mere hype.
What are the new heaven and the new earth?

What is His will on the matter?
There won’t be a lot of people. With AI and robots you don’t need a large labor force. The useless eaters will be slaughtered in the billions by drones and robotic cheetahs whose mounted rifles never miss.
Just because it’s horrifying doesn’t mean it’s not coming.
Skynet meets the Matrix...
I've read too much History and observed human behavior.
