Didn’t they know this a long time ago? I believe the shaman character in Stonehenge (1999) by Bernard Cornwell was a woman.

So, the idea of a “wise woman”, a la “Clan of the Cave Bear”, is not so far-fetched. Isn’t it interesting that when someone uses the term “shaman”, the first images that mentally are recalled are of a male image?
