I think a lot of these folks are way past their prime.
They become an institution, but some of them have outlived their actual practical useful life and this even applies to the POTUS (not talking about Trump).
I do not think Biden was running the country towards his end. Truth is, I think Ronald Reagan was awesome, but in his second term and aging with Alzheimer’s, after struck in the lung by a gunman, he became someone ineffective.
The problem is, you cannot have any sort of testing because this would become a political spectacle and threaten the democratic process.
It is up to the electorate and they are often absent / uninterested or mislead with these candidates intentionally withholding the true state of their health which frankly is something the public deserves to know. They are asking for the “public’s trust,” holding public office (low degree of privacy) and this could affect their decision making and availability. Privacy goes out the window - the public should have a RIGHT to know where their money is coming from, what their state of health is, what their criminal record looks like.
Can an airline pilot say “sorry, no medical testing, my privacy?”

How about a specialist (E4) in the Army with a clearance, does he have a right to hide his medical, drug use, criminal, financial information?
