I went, with my wife and son, to see the movie on IMAX today. As a group, we all liked it.

Yes... I was ticked off to see Achilles portrayed by a transexual... even more to see the added dialogue that suggested the feats of Achilles were “exaggerated”. Seeing and ugly “Helen of Troy” was annoying. But it was a highly entertaining movie.

I never studied or read Homer’s works. I’m more inclined now to want to. The messages in this movie were timeless, and worthwhile. The action was gripping. Time flew by... and overall, I think, it’s a GOOD thing for America to see. The men were MANLY... well, other than Achilles. But who really thinks he wasn’t manly?

That wasn’t Achilles. It was a character they made just for the movie. I wouldn’t say Helen was ugly, but she definitely looked like she survived a 10 year siege 10 years ago. Maybe Helen wouldn’t stay Helen through all that. 20 years is a long time, especially millennia before moisturizer was invented.
