Argentina is at risk of being sanctioned by FIFA after its players celebrated with a Falkland Islands banner following its semi-final win over England on Wednesday.
After the team’s dramatic comeback victory at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta, midfielder Giovani Lo Celso appeared on the field with a banner saying, “Las Malvinas son Argentinas,” which translates to “The Malvinas are Argentine.”

The International Football Association Board (IFAB), football’s lawmakers, and FIFA have a clear stance on political flags, slogans and symbols being displayed.
“Equipment must not have any political, religious or personal slogans, statements or images. Players must not reveal undergarments that show political, religious, personal slogans, statements or images, or advertising other than the manufacturer’s logo,” IFAB’s rulebook states.

And it wasn’t a Muslim country back then, neither.
I didn’t know Soccer has anything to do with market risk.

Woke Britain is not going to be able to defend the Falklands, as simple as that.
Argentina’s finances are in a terrible state.
I’m going with Javier Milei

I think Milei failed. He couldn’t fix the currency, investments are at a record low, and unemployment is high.
Argentina will get these Falkland islands that are prime for raising sheep (wool) and lamb meat. A few thousand penguins that will draw good tourist money.
iirc Falklands have zero trees they are too windy. But grasses for grazing everywhere.
I asked Grok.
Under Milei (2.5 years since Dec 2023), Argentina stabilized macro indicators—inflation from 211% to 31.5%, first surpluses in years, poverty from 53% peak to 28%, +4.4% GDP in 2025 (3-3.6% projected 2026)—but with initial recession, uneven recovery, 7-8% unemployment (rising informality), weak investment, and mixed approval (38-40%); analysts generally see sustained broad turnaround (wages, jobs, investment diffusion) requiring 2–4+ more years of consistent policy continuity.
I’m pulling hard for Argentina.
Javier Milei is a friend of Trump, while the Spanish dictator Pedro Sanchez is fiercely Anti-American and is proudly giving citizenship to thousands of Muslim invaders. Sanchez is a socialist who has openly expressed his support for Islam.
Spain can burn in Hell. GO ARGENTINA!!

misleading...
The US provided material, logistic, economic, and intelligence support.
The US diverted more than 100 frontline AIM-9L Sidewinder missiles directly from its own European stockpiles to the Royal Navy. These advanced, all-aspect air-to-air missiles allowed British Harrier pilots to shoot down 19 Argentine aircraft
The US supplied shoulder-fired Stinger anti-aircraft missiles to British Special Forces (SAS), which were used to down Argentine aircraft.
The US provided thousands of rounds of mortar shells, 20-mm ammunition, and sonar-equipped buoys for anti-submarine warfare.
The US diverted 12.5 million gallons of tactical aviation fuel from its own military stockpiles. This fuel filled the empty underground tanks at Ascension Island, powering the British Task Force ships and the long-range Vulcan bomber missions.
The US allowed the Royal Navy to heavily utilize the joint US-British airbase at Ascension Island as its crucial mid-Atlantic staging post.
The US provided critical infrastructure material like airfield matting to expand operations.
The US re-positioned a military spy satellite over the South Atlantic specifically to relay imagery and technical intelligence to British commanders.
The US gave UK access to the US Defense Satellite Communications System.
The US offered to loan the helicopter carrier USS Iwo Jima (or USS Guam) to the Royal Navy if either of Britain’s two active aircraft carriers were sunk.
The US publicly enacted economic sanctions against Argentina and backed United Nations Security Council measures condemning the Argentine invasion.
My issue is to my understanding the British of the Falkland Islands are more Authentic British then the United Kaliphate these days....
Which is why they're better off under Las Malvinas unless they want to convert to Islam.
The Falklands is still a serious sore spot for the Argentinians. In 2014, the crew from BBC’s Top Gear got attacked while filming in Argentina because someone thought the license plate on Jeremy Clarkson’s car — H982 FKL — was meant to be a taunt over the 1982 Falklands war.
As if Clarkson had some bone to pick with the Argentinians, plus he had enough pull with someone in the Ministry of Transportation to get a specific set of numerals on his plate.
That’s some tin foil hat stuff.
It would not be the brits who built the mosques. would muslims go to the falklands? doubt it. too demanding,
There is no love lost between Argentina and England.
The Falklands War is being fought on the “Football Pitch?”
It is over, take a deep breath and get over it!
England 1 Argentina 0
