A new report says health officials are investigating Taco Bell as a potential part of the cyclosporiasis outbreak that’s sickened thousands of people across the U.S., with many suffering from extreme diarrhea.
The Washington Post cites two anonymous sources close to the investigation, which is said to involve both federal and state health officials.
Taco Bell has reportedly removed lettuce, cilantro, pico de gallo and guacamole from its menu in some areas as a precaution.
Michigan’s health department has pointed to lettuce or other salad greens as a potential source of the outbreak, but said some people infected with the parasite did not eat at Taco Bell.
The CDC has not yet confirmed if a specific food item is the source of the outbreak.
Nearly 7,000 cases of cyclosporiasis, a gastrointestinal illness that can cause extreme diarrhea, have been confirmed by health officials across more than half of U.S. states.
The illness is caused by the Cyclospora parasite, which enters the body through contaminated produce, the CDC says.
If ingested, you may experience weeks of watery diarrhea, as well as “frequent and sometimes explosive bowel movements,” the CDC reports.

They had a hepatitis A outbreak 15 or so years ago, many locations closed, a local one never came back.
I think Taco Bell is just one of the locations that the veggies were delivered to. I think it was their distributor. Further up the chain. Many people did NOT eat Taco Bell.
Don't threaten me with a good time.
for fast food tacos I think they are pretty good.
Or you may not. Thanks, CDC. What we do without you? Besides save billions of tax dollars I mean.
Good one.
They have to report diners had gas, bowel problems and discomfort ——more than usual from the place.

Jobs which Americans will not do for minimum wage?
Ah, India! What wonderful memories of trips there for work! Add in dehydration from it happening every 5-15 minutes and bouts of laryngitis from the ever-present mold in ventilation systems and the experience is complete. Thanks, Taco Bell!
I believe I had this a few weeks ago. I am off of fresh vegetables because of my chemo and when I eat out I always ask they not be included in my order, but right before this happened I had a meal with small amounts of lettuce and tomato. After that came the diarrhea and nothing I took would stop it. It finally ran it’s course, but not before I had to go to my oncologist and get a transfusion of fluids from being severely dehydrated,
A shot of strong whiskey will kill all the bacteria in belly. With bonus of feeling more good looking than you are 😂
Just another day at Taco Bell. How can they tell the difference??
J/k…I actually love Taco Bell. 😃
