A website that is still hanging on (barely) with its 30 year technology is by that definition - screwed up.

I can’t tell you how many websites I’ve seen that are now completely unusable because it was felt necessary to “upgrade” over the years. This is largely a text based website.
Without any advertising here at FR. How complicated does that need to be? For my part the website looks familiar, like an old friend. It doesn’t require massive resources to load up, Java script, nor does it try to hijack my browser and load pop-up videos. It’s very quick, and especially noticeable in sketchy connections in remote areas. See where I’m goin’ with that?

This website works great, stays stable, does not required constant learning curves, and is easy to use. It has depths of functionality that may not be obvious to newbies but have been discovered and enhance the experience of those who stick around and value FR. Its contributions from “regulars” who take the time to share their talents are worth a dozen or more expensive media subscriptions. It’s a great site for people who like to read and who have real-world experience, good memories and accumulated knowledge of our civic systems.
What a shame you come on a thread celebrating FR to condemn it.

There is nothing wrong with 30 year old technology as long as it works. Suggest you spend some time at Reddit or one of it’s spinoffs, then come back to FR. Then you will realize how much better FR really is!
Regarding 30 year old technology.
Many years ago I thought “I wish FR was on V-Bulletin” then I saw one of the competitors to FR who was actually on V-Bulletin and realized “I’m glad FR is NOT on V-Bulletin!”
Are there things that could improve it, absolutely, but I get tired of apps who change for the sake of change. Nothing is improved, just rearranged. Why?
One thing that would be a great help would be the ability to host pictures, so you don’t have to go find a picture hosting site.
