Bonnie Tyler has died 'unexpectedly' at the age of 75, weeks after going into cardiac arrest following surgery which left her in an induced coma.
The Welsh pop star, whose real name is Gaynor Hopkins, died just months after she was treated in intensive care after being placed in an induced coma following an emergency intestinal surgery.
Bonnie's death was announced in a statement by her 'heartbroken' family and team on her website on Thursday, which said she died in hospital in Portugal.

RIP, Bonnie
I need a hero
I’m holding out for a hero ‘til the end of the night
He’s gotta be strong, and he’s gotta be fast
And he’s gotta be fresh from the fight
Classic voice
RIP
“treated for emergency bowel surgery and a perforated intestine after a burst appendix”
You shouldn’t die from that. What kind of doctors treated her in Portugal? According to Jayapaypal maybe they should have flown her to Cuba.
Sepsis?
Condolences to family and friends of Bonnie Tyler. RIP.
Another celebrity who died early, although not too early in this case.
Very common, it seems.
That’s a heartache.
RE: … after going into cardiac arrest
Well, a Total Eclipse of the Heart! ♥️ 💜
RIP....thanks for the music
To this day when my wife is driving and we realize that she made a wrong turn, I tell her to “turn around, Bright Eyes”.
A truly unique voice. Someone who might have been written off as a one hit wonder after the 70s came marching back in the mid-80s stronger than ever. May she RIP.
Great voice... She was a nice Welsh girl with a great set of lungs. R.I.P.
Unexpected? Are people just getting stupider?
I loved her voice. She brought a lot to this planet.
RIP Bonnie, Thank you for your excellent music.
GREATEST SONG OF THE 80’s
She probably had other medical issues. The burst appendix exacerbated them. We don’t know if she had obvious symptoms of appendicitis so she may have not been treated for it.
Or, she coulda’ been someone who ignored symptoms. Maybe she had “the show must go on” mentality.
Husband Robert Sullivan was part of the tragic 1972 Olympics as a sub-70kg Judoka. He was a first-round loser to Antal Hetényi (HUN), who beat him with an okuri-eri-jime (choke hold).
LOVED her music. What a loss!

Jim Steinman wrote her biggest hit, Total Eclipse of the Heart. While that song was at #1 for four consecutive weeks, Air Supply’s Making Love Out of Nothing At All was right behind it at #2. It was also written by Steinman. I can only wonder about his residual checks.
Rest in peace, Bonnie. You did well.
