Frustrating, Right?

The only way I felt I could ‘starve the beast’ (Mother Government) during my working years (Tax Confiscation Years!) was to be VERY AWARE of what was taxed and what wasn’t, and paying in the minimum I legally could. I was NOT one of those people who was excited to get a Tax Refund from the Feds or the State. OMG! That’s YOUR MONEY! Why are you GIVING IT to Mother Government as an INTEREST-FREE loan all year? Do ya LIKE funding abortions? How about funding undeclared ‘wars?’ Supporting the illegals that are invading your country? Supporting Mary Jane and her 6 kids - each from a different sperm donor? *SPIT*

I’ve never understood it.

Wisconsin is in the top 10 states for taxation. If I didn’t LOVE IT HERE, I would’ve been gone many years ago. My plan upon retirement was to head to Tennessee, but Beau came along and made me an offer I couldn’t refuse. ;)

And really, I have no complaints about where we live now. My old farm-ette had taxes of $3,800.00 a year for 2 acres. TWO ACRES! And no Fire and little Police support in any emergency.

Where we live now is $3K a year for 160 acres! And that is ONE COUNTY OVER! It’s just insanity! And, yes, we still have the same lack of ‘services’ BUT we are surrounded by like-minded farmers that ‘get it’ and are also armed. ;)

Living in a community of like-minded people is incredibly important. I was raised in a rural part of Northern California, many years ago now. People in large part were traditional Christians. They pretty much Policed themselves, and our Fire services were volunteer. If the City Police or the Sheriff were involved in something it was a HUGE deal. This, I think, is how it should be. A society in alignment with itself. Today, there is next to zero cohesion at the community level (Diversity is Our Strength...), and it seems as if most people are just absolute yayhoos.
